A Virginia rapper’s viral video sparked debate online after solo gunplay appeared to bring on a fatal conclusion.
“Knew exactly what he was doing…”
Going by the name Rylo Huncho, a 17-year-old Virginia drill rapper reportedly died recently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Video of the incident circulated on social media showing him tossing the weapon about with one hand as he filmed himself before pointing it at his own head.
Before pulling the trigger, the rapper was heard saying, “F*ck y’all, n****.”
According to the outlet Hip Hob Vibe, “Rylo Huncho’s real name has not been disclosed. However, he was known for his energetic performances and promising music career…he was filming content for his TikTok account when the gun discharged. So, this resulted in a fatal injury.”
On X, Ian Miles Cheong shared a screengrab of a crowdfunding page that had been setup under the teen’s name and wrote, “The family of Rylo Huncho, the rap artist who accidentally cranium’d himself on a livestream, has started a GoFundMe to pay for his funeral expenses.”
With a over $2,300 raised toward a goal of $15,000 at the time of this post, a message from a woman identifying herself as a cousin of the decedent stated, “Hello, my aunt recently lost her 17 year old son from a self inflicted gun wound to the head. He was her only son! She was a single parent but took care of her son the best she could. Suicide/accidental was the cause of his death we are still trying to figure out why. But anything I mean anything can help her at this time of need. He was her only child she was also an only child it was always her and her son. Anything can help! Please keep my family in your prayers thank you so much.”
The brief viral clip raised questions about the fate of the rapper and at least one social media account suggested, “according to his family, he went to the hospital and died from injuries. his friend posted the video [because] people were saying the friend shot him. his family was also saying he was depressed but since he is gone, we will never know if it was a major accident or purposely done.”

Others debated over a motion made by the teen on the side of the firearm before pulling the trigger, suggesting that he had been fiddling with a safety. However, it remained a matter of contention as to whether the action was meant to engage or disengage the feature before the fatal discharge.
“Knew exactly what he was doing, he had trigger awareness. His finger avoided the trigger the entire time, then he turned the safety off and poof….” wrote one account while another argued, “Probably thought he switch the safety on.”
The bottom line, as contended by another account as rap culture continued to glamorize guns as props, “When you are playing around with a loaded weapon, it’s not an accident, it’s a choice and this one had a severe consequence.”
