Navy: Yes, we know, our fighter pilot drew male genitalia in the sky

Just because you think it’s funny, doesn’t mean everybody else will.

Strange pictures that swept the internet on Friday forced Naval officers to address a large image of male genitalia floating high above an otherwise peaceful rural landscape. The Navy confirmed to KREM 2 that one its pilots made the obscene skywriting “art” with his aircraft.

Officials with the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island issued a stern statement in response to the image that decorated the skies of Okanogan County, Washington.

“The Navy holds its aircrew to the highest standards and we find this absolutely unacceptable, of zero training value and we are holding the crew accountable,” officials said.

Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration responded to complaints by saying there was nothing it could do. Unless an act poses a public safety risk, the FAA said it is not authorized to take action. Moreover, the administration said it “cannot police morality.”

Some residents of the area were outraged at the drawing, particularly those with young children. Others saw it as humorous.
