‘Sizable black butts’ cause popular Detroit restaurant to come under fire for ‘sexually suggestive’ uniforms

Bucharest Grill wants to be known for making an excellent shawarma, but the Detroit restaurant is coming under fire for something else altogether – the “sexually suggestive” uniforms its female employees wear.

The heat is mainly coming from local businesswoman and former Detroit mayoral candidate Jerroll Sanders, according to WWJ News.

“I visited the restaurant and I took note that inscribed across the young ladies’ buttocks there was a message that said, ‘We Deliver,’ and that was very sexually suggestive to me,” Sanders told WWJ News. “This is as much about our girls understanding that their body parts should not be marketed in that way. That they should use their minds, they should use their ingenuity and we are going to insist upon high standards for the young ladies that are in our community, and we’re very firmly planted on that position.”

“Whenever you inscribe messages across the buttocks, you want people to look at the buttocks,” Sanders added.

On another Facebook post, Sanders called the uniforms “disrespectful to our girls” and claimed that some of the restaurant’s employees were happy she was speaking up.

“I doubt the owner, whom I believe is Middle Eastern, would ask his daughter to wear such garb. I WILL NOT do business with an establishment that disrespects our girls,” the post read.

The restaurant’s owner, Bogdan Tarasov, who has just opened his fourth Detroit location, told WWJ that sex wasn’t his original intent and that he would remove the bottoms from his uniform rotation.

However, Tarasov also fired back in a statement to Fox News:

“These pants never had a double meaning in 8 years until Jerroll Sanders’ publicly trashed our business for personal gain … When Jerroll M. Sanders posted her angery and wreckless [sic] post saying our female employees had ‘sizeable bottoms,’ SHE drew attention to them and sexualized them … You won’t have to dig too deep to find the ulterior motive behind it all [which is that] Jerroll M. Sanders’ attack is to push her new book.”

The statement also added that Tarasov is Romanian, not Middle Eastern, and that they invited Sanders to come and discuss her complaint but she turned them down.

And yet Sanders still isn’t happy, because while the “We Deliver” message may be gone, the restaurant hasn’t yet ended “the practice of having messages on the buttocks of uniforms altogether.”

“OUR GIRL’S BACKSIDES SHOULD NOT SERVE AS AN ADVERTISING BILLBOARD,” Sanders posted, in all caps so you could read it better.

All liberal grandstanding aside, Bucharest Grill appears to be a fantastic place to eat. Check out this review by WXYZ-TV:
