New biography bombshell tells who Obama once wanted to emulate – and it’s a doozy!

Those that can, do; those that can’t … become politicians?

In a yet-to-be-released biography, “Rising Star,” historian David J. Garrow revealed that former President Barack Obama once dreamt of becoming a wildly successful businessman — and even held up President Donald Trump, his successor in office as an example of that image.

The Washington Post reported:

Obama had considered Donald Trump long before either man won the presidency, and brushed off his existence as a misguided national fantasy. Americans have a “continuing normative commitment to the ideals of individual freedom and mobility,” Obama wrote in the old Harvard book manuscript, now more than 25 years old. “The depth of this commitment may be summarily dismissed as the unfounded optimism of the average American — I may not be Donald Trump now, but just you wait; if I don’t make it, my children will.”

But that may have been based on his own inflated sense of self-worth. Law school classmates even used Obama as a guide for pomposity in others, calling it the “Obamanometer.”

At Harvard, the Obama the world has come to know took clearer form. In his late 20s now and slightly older than most classmates, he had a compulsion to orate in class and summarize other people’s arguments for them. “In law school the only thing I would have voted for Obama to do would have been to shut up,” one student told Garrow. Classmates created a Obamanometer, ranking “how pretentious someone’s remarks are in class.”

Obama may have had dreams of grandeur as a business tycoon, but until 2015 when he announced his candidacy, business tycoon Trump never gave the presidency any serious thought.

In a 1988 interview, Oprah Winfrey asked Trump about the possibility of running for the White House. While he dismissed the notion, he nonetheless expressed fear for the direction in which the United States was headed.

“I just probably wouldn’t do it, Oprah,” he told Winfrey. “But I do get tired of seeing what’s happening with this country.”

Fox News Politics’ tweet on Obama’s dreams generated howls of laughter:

During a late October appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Obama mocked the idea of a Trump presidency. Looks like Trump had the last laugh on that one too.

In the same biography, Garrow revealed that Obama once toyed with the idea of being a homosexual.

Although the chance of reaching billionaire status is remote, Obama is nonetheless becoming wealthy in his own right. The idea of former presidents becoming millionaires only became a reality beginning with Bill Clinton, former Democratic President Harry S. Truman had an opinion on the matter:

“You can’t get rich in politics unless you’re a crook.”

I’ll just let that one sit right there.
