If nothing else, the former president put to bed the left’s claim that being gay isn’t a matter of choice.
A new biography set for release early next month indicates that former President Barack Obama mentally toyed with the idea that he may be gay.
“Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama,” was written by historian David Garrow, who is no sensationalist. He authored the Pulitzer Prize winning “Bearing the Cross,” a biography of the late civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. and is a regular contributor to The Washington Post and The New York Times.

In a chapter devoted to Obama’s two years — 1979 to 1981 — at Occidental College, Garrow described a relationship he developed with an openly gay professor, Lawrence Goldyn.
“Goldyn made a huge impact on Barry Obama,” Garrow wrote in the book. “Almost a quarter century later, asked about his understanding of gay issues, Obama enthusiastically said, ‘my favorite professor my first year in college was one of the first openly gay people that I knew…He was a terrific guy” with whom Obama developed a ‘friendship beyond the classroom.’”
And Obama broached the subject a few years later.
“Three years later, Obama wrote somewhat elusively to his first intimate girlfriend that he had thought about and considered gayness, but ultimately had decided that a same-sex relationship would be less challenging and demanding than developing one with the opposite sex,” Garrow wrote. “But there is no doubting that Goldyn gave eighteen-year-old Barry a vastly more positive and uplifting image of gay identity and self-confidence than he had known in Honolulu.”
This revelation about the former president turned a few heads on social media — but most thought it only confirmed what they’d always suspected, especially given rumors about Obama and Reggie Love, his former personal assistant.

One person made this observation that goes against the grain of liberal thought: That being gay is a state one is born with — not a matter of choice.
@DailyCaller So being gay is a choice…

During a recent radio interview on “The Jamie Weinstein Show,” Garrow began discussing the Obama biography at about the 45-minute mark.
At about the 56:25 mark, Weinstein asked the author about Obama’s alleged experimentation with homosexuality. He declined to take the subject any further than what he did in the book.
“I think anyone and everyone, no matter what their role in life deserves a certain basic degree of privacy, in that context.”
Earlier in the interview Garrow stated unequivocally that Obama was heterosexual.
