It didn’t take long for the Monday shooting at Ohio State University to turn into a gun control rallying cry.
Minutes after news broke that there was an active shooter, Twitter users called for stronger gun control and blamed the attack on lackluster laws.
This is where were are. Instead of common sense gun control, we get “run, hide, fight.” https://t.co/b5tpDDauWc

This is even more appropriate considering today’s tragic events at Ohio State University. https://t.co/oyWWq5G0us

Hoping so very much that everyone is alright at Ohio State University, and that thoughtful gun control can be attained in this country.

For school shooting victims it’s not too soon to discuss our nation’s lax gun laws – it’s too late

The school is a “gun free zone,” and instructed students to “run hide fight” and stay in place.
At least eight people have been taken to the hospital, with one critical and another seven stable, according to the fire department. There are also reports at least one person was attacked with a machete.
Columbus police have confirmed one shooter has been killed; police are searching for a second.
You can #prayforOSU if you want, but if you’re not willing to fight for #guncontrol, why bother? You don’t really care about kids being shot

Yet it’s their ‘God Given Rite’ to carry a gun?!?
MAYBE IF WE HAD STRICTER GUN CONTROL THIS SHIT WOULDN’T FUCKING HAPPEN

One person even tried to make it about Black Lives Matter.
Yesterday’s threat of violence at #Ohio State University underscores importance of #BlackLivesMatter https://t.co/msedEi7r99 #guncontrol

Others pushed back against the immediate politicization.
Before Bloomberg’s gun control lobbyists try to politicize an active event, maybe wait for all facts or at least include affected in prayer.

For those who think the Ohio State University attack is a great time for jokes, politics, or racism of any kind, I have one finger for you.
