Paul Ryan is about to go the way of Eric Cantor.

In an interview airing on Sunday, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said that House Speaker Ryan’s announcement indicating he was withholding support for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was “not a wise decision.”

“He’s about to be Cantored, as in Eric Cantor,” Palin told CNN host Jake Tapper on “State of the Union. “His political career is over but for a miracle, because he has so disrespected the American people.”

Cantor was the former House majority leader who was considered the obvious successor to former House Speaker John Boehner, until the Virginia Republican lost his seat to David Brat in 2014.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee surmised that Ryan may be planning his own presidential run in 2020, and a Trump presidency would destroy such a bid.

“It kind of screws his chances for the 2020 presidential bid that he’s gunning for,” she said.

Palin also indicated that she plans to campaign on behalf of Ryan’s primary challenger for re-election to his House seat.

“I will do whatever I can for Paul Nehlen,” she said.
