Musk, others tout ‘Citizen Vigilante’ action flick banned in Germany: ‘This is what people want to see’

A new movie that depicts an American man taking the law into his own hands against criminals in Europe has been deemed to be so “anti-Muslim” that Germany has effectively banned it, but fans are singing its praises.

“Citizen Vigilante” features actor Armie Hammer as an American businessman living abroad who dispenses brutal justice to violent thugs, including Middle Eastern immigrants, becoming a public hero as well as wanted by the law.

The ultra-violent flick, which was directed by German filmmaker Uwe Boll, was denied a ratings classification in Germany, a requirement for a film to be shown publicly, in a move that reeks of the authoritarian thought policing that is once again commonplace in Europe.

Despite its censorship across the pond, “Citizen Vigilante” has drawn rave reviews from many in America who are touting it on social media, one of them being Elon Musk, the world’s first trillionaire, who offered it free for X users for 48-hours last week and is a big fan.

“It’s against the constitution, it’s completely ridiculous to do this kind of censorship for a movie, or a book or anything,” Boll said in an interview on Real America’s Voice, according to Newsweek.

Described as a “Death Wish” for the 21st Century, the movie is a throwback to gritty action thrillers from the pre-woke era when the character of the criminals and not the color of their skin was what really mattered and is available for streaming on select online platforms. It has also been shared on X by other users.

“Society needs: A new warrior,” the trailer states, showing a crowd-pleasing preview of Hammer kicking ass and taking names while leaving a generous trail of bodies in his wake.

Also giving the film two thumbs-up was podcaster and businessman Patrick Bet-David, who praised its righteous message that “taps into the rage millions of people feel when their own government won’t protect them or their kids.”

“No wonder Germany and several other countries banned it,” he added. “A must watch.”

And as the saying goes, the best advertising is word of mouth.

“Citizen Vigilante 2 will be even better,” Musk predicted.
