Taliban releases U.S. hostage after Trump negotiation

President Donald Trump followed through on delivering another promise to the American people with the release of George Glezmann from Taliban custody.

The terror organization had been holding Glezmann, 65, for over two years in Afghanistan, but was released following negation between the Trump administration and Qatari officials, Fox News Digital reported.

Glezmann was abducted in Kabul while visiting as a tourist on Dec. 5, 2022, but is currently on his way to Doha where he will be met by U.S. hostage envoy Adam Boehler and a team for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Fox reported.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio celebrated the news on X:

It remains uncertain whether Boehler’s meeting with the Afghan foreign ministry indicates that the U.S. will formally establish diplomatic relations with the Taliban, especially as Washington works to free another American still detained in Afghanistan.

U.S. citizen Mahmood Habibi has been held by the Taliban for more than two years, though the insurgent-run government denies it is holding him, Fox reported.

Meanwhile, plenty of Americans celebrated the news along with Rubio:
