Border czar Tom Homan: ‘There are over 20M illegal aliens in the US – closer to 30M’

Border czar Tom Homan revealed the staggering number of immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally and the latest effort to register them.

Homan spoke with Fox News host Laura Ingraham about the tools the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is using to enforce the Immigration and Nationality Act, including a registry that requires fingerprinting illegal aliens.

Full compliance with the registry would mean officials will be “very busy,” according to Homan, who said, “I think there’s over 20 million illegal aliens in this country—closer to 30 (million).”

“They’ve been talking about 12 million since 1995, ” Homan continued on “The Ingraham Angle,” adding that under President Joe Biden, there were 8 million illegal aliens and another 2 million “gotaways.”

“Well over 20 million,” the former acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement director said.

“If they don’t comply, they can be charged with a crime and face penalties. We will do that,” he warned. “If they don’t obey the law, they’re going to be prosecuted. This is a game changer and this is going to drive illegal immigration even lower than the record numbers we are seeing right now.”

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced this week that there are tools available to track those in the country illegally and compel them to leave voluntarily.

“An alien’s failure to depart the U.S. is a crime that could result in significant financial penalty. An alien’s failure to register is a crime that could result in a fine, imprisonment, or both. For decades, this law has been ignored—not anymore,” DHS announced in a press release.

“Compelling mass self-deportation is a safer path for aliens and law enforcement, and saves U.S. taxpayer dollars, in addition to conserving valuable Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) resources needed to keep Americans safe,” DHS added.

“President Trump and Secretary Noem have a clear message for those in our country illegally: leave now. If you leave now, you may have the opportunity to return and enjoy our freedom and live the American dream,” a DHS spokesperson said in a statement this week. “The Trump administration will enforce all our immigration laws—we will not pick and choose which laws we will enforce. We must know who is in our country for the safety and security of our homeland and all Americans.”
