AP jumps the shark: Blames global warming for cold blasts

The bone-chilling cold that’s sweeping parts of the nation as a result of the polar vortex is just another opportunity for leftists to pimp their climate narrative, with the Associated Press once again leading the way.

Like racism, climate change can be caused by pretty much everything if one is to believe the media and the AP is claiming that global warming is to blame for the freezing weather, a perfect example of why some have coined the nickname “Associated Propaganda” to brand the once-respectable media organization.

“It’s a cold air outbreak that some experts say is happening more frequently, and paradoxically, because of a warming world. Such cold air blasts have become known as the polar vortex. It’s a long-established weather term that’s become mainstream as its technical meaning changed a bit on the way,” AP’s Seth Borenstein tells readers, not actually ever giving any scientific proof other than cherry-picked quotes from climate activists.

The author cites a recent study from climate scientists that made the case that “these types of polar vortex disruptions — stretching or moving entirely out of the North Pole — are happening more frequently,” to underpin his assertion that global warming is the reason for freezing too.

“There’s a climate change signal in that,” said Woodwell Climate Research Center scientist Jennifer Francis, one of the authors of the study.

“The Arctic is warming four times faster than the rest of the world, which means the difference between temperatures up north and down south are shrinking, Francis said,” according to AP.

“Arctic sea ice is shrinking, especially near the Barents Sea in Scandinavia, which releases more heat into the atmosphere. That means more energy bouncing off and warping or moving the polar vortex,” said Judah Cohen, seasonal forecast director at the private firm Atmospheric and Environmental Research who was also a part of the study.

X users were unconvinced, mocking AP’s global warming gaslighting.

“Keep in mind that this is a small part of the whole climate, a couple of weeks of weather in a small part of the Northern Hemisphere,” said AccuWeather Director of Forecast Operations Dan DePodwin who wasn’t a part of the study. “Climate change does not mean that we will expect to see no more cold weather. It just means that the average temperature overall is going up and we still expect to see colder shots.”

AP has completely jumped the shark and has more in common with parody sites like the Babylon Bee and The Onion than an actual news organization.
