Dan Crenshaw threatens legal action against ‘Catturd’ as HEATED war of words escalates

Former Navy SEAL and Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw continued his war of words as he called out “slander” against him on social media.

Crenshaw battled it out with a prominent Twitter/X user known as Catturd (real name Phillip Buchanan) in heated exchanges that began last week. In the latest round, the GOP lawmaker warned the X user about “completely made up” posts, cautioning that “Knowingly spreading slander isn’t a good look, not to mention libelous, so you might want to delete.”

Last week, Crenshaw blew up at conservative reporter Nick Sortor who claimed via anonymous sources that the congressman is “spearheading the effort to get a pay raise for Congress.”

When Catturd also called Crenshaw out, he got a piece of the same fiery retort.

“Anonymous coward like ‘catturd’ talking sh-t without any evidence,” he wrote back. “I’m used to it. Sorry I was guy fighting the wars that little b-tches like you would never dare to. One of us has actually served this country and continues to, while losers like you make money being trolls on social media.”

On Thursday morning, Crenshaw pointed out to Catturd that the story about him was from “years ago.”

“To be clear, this story was from years ago. You’re lying by implying we solicited illegal contributions,” he wrote.

Catturd previously reposted a report claiming that “FEC fines Rep. Dan Crenshaw for taking over $220,000 in illegal campaign contributions.”

“Never doubt me when I call these scumbags out,” the popular account noted.

The exchange with Crenshaw earned a community note on X.

“It’s been reported, and FEC records confirm, that in Dec 2022 Crenshaw’s campaign entered a conciliation agreement to pay a $42000 fine for ‘knowingly accept[ing] $223,460.26 in apparent excessive and prohibited contributions for the 2020 primary and general elections,'” the readers explained.

Crenshaw defended himself with attacks aimed at critics on Christmas Day.

The back and forth was followed closely by X users.

Social media users continued to rake the Texas lawmaker over the coals and were not happy with the perceived threat against Catturd.
