During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the NATO summit, President Biden ridiculed a reporter for asking when Ukraine would join NATO, telling him that it would be “an hour and 20 minutes” after the war and that his question was “really insightful.”
Once again, Biden showed how little use he has for the press during the annual NATO summit in Lithuania’s capital. He sneered at the journalist who asked the valid question, dismissing him on the spot on Wednesday.
“How soon after the war would you like to join NATO?” the reporter asked Zelenskyy, who has been critical of NATO for withholding an invitation for Ukraine to join until after the war.
Before Zelenskyy could answer, Biden stepped in to put the journalist in his place, “An hour and 20 minutes. You guys ask really insightful questions.”

Biden, 80, has not made it a secret that he despises reporters and frequently barks at them, lashing out when they ask questions he doesn’t like. He was openly incensed over being questioned about deciding to skip a Tuesday dinner with NATO leaders according to the New York Post, drawing fresh attention to his advanced age for doing so.

Before Biden met with Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president slammed NATO for its “absurd” decision to draft new language vaguely describing standards for the country’s admission, ostensibly in an attempt to stave off World War III.
Zelenskyy stated on Wednesday at an event with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg that he wanted an invitation from NATO to join so it would send a “signal” to Russia even though he realizes that “Ukraine cannot be a member nation of NATO as long as the war continues on our territory,” according to the New York Post
US and UK leaders bluntly told Ukraine on Wednesday to soften its resentful rhetoric toward Western nations who are helping the war-torn country in Europe’s biggest conflict since World War II, supplying it with money and arms to continue the effort against the Russians.
Reporter: “Do you see speeding up Ukraine’s NATO membership as inviting Russia to war? Sir? Mr. President?”

“I think the American people do deserve a degree of gratitude from the United States government for their willingness to step up and from the rest of the world as well,” White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said at a public forum in response to a Ukrainian activist who asked if Washington was “afraid of Russia.” The accusation was that the US is slow-walking Kyiv’s aid requests.
“The United States of America has stepped up to provide an enormous amount of capacity to help ensure that Ukraine’s brave soldiers have the ammunition, air defense, the infantry, fighting vehicles, the mine clearing equipment and so much else to be able to effectively defend against Russia’s onslaught and to take territory back as well,” Sullivan noted. “There has been a lot of conspiracy theorizing that simply is not based on any reality whatsoever.”

UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace was also terse, saying Ukraine had to show “doubting politicians in other countries that [support is] worth it.”
“Whether we like it or not, people want to see gratitude,” he commented, according to the New York Post.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak evidently tried to distance himself from Wallace’s comments during a joint news conference with Zelenskyy. claiming the Ukrainian president had “expressed his gratitude for what we have done on a number of occasions. I completely understand Volodymyr’s desire to do everything he can to protect his people and to stop this war, and we will continue to give him the support that he needs.”
“We were always grateful to the UK, prime ministers, and the minister of defense because the people are always supporting us,” Zelenskyy commented. “I didn’t know what he meant and how else we should be grateful. Maybe the minister wants something special but we have wonderful relations.”
