Target reportedly feeling the heat from rank-and-file employees who question if they ‘belong’ there

Target employees are reportedly questioning whether they “belong” at the retail giant after massive backlash over the disastrous LGBTQ+ and transgender stance of the company as Pride Month rolls out, causing workers on both sides of the issue to consider heading for the exit.

An insider told Fox News Digital that working for Target has now become problematic for many.

“Our teams feel left behind. The vast majority of our team feels like decisions are being made that impact them. It doesn’t matter which side you’re on, you now feel like people are making decisions without our best interest,” the insider told Fox News Digital in an interview.

“Because people have made decisions for us that put us in a very difficult position, there are a lot of folks that feel like, ‘Do we belong at Target?’ They question that for the first time in a long time,” the insider candidly remarked.

Target has celebrated Pride Month for years, rolling out massive displays every June. However, this year is different as parents started voicing outrage when the LGBTQ+ merchandise appeared to target children. Also at issue are ‘female’ swimsuits that are catering to transgenders with “tuck” features. Not to mention ties to a “‘Satanic’ designer” according to Fox News.

The insider who is ringing alarm bells has been with the company for almost two decades. The person previously told Fox News Digital that the company was taking steps to avoid a “Bud Light situation.” Target has confirmed “adjustments” were made to some in-store Pride displays with some items being removed altogether and others being moved further back in the store. Their efforts have been a tremendous flop, not satisfying either side of the issue and costing the corporation billions in profits.

The excuse that Target gave for removing merchandise, or at the very least shuffling it, was to keep employees safe. In a number of instances, employees claim they have been threatened and harassed because of the Pride merchandise. Those same employees that the company claims it is protecting feel abandoned by their employer.

“Whether you’re on the right, and you felt left behind in the beginning or you felt like you didn’t belong, and now if you’re LGTBQ you also have questions if you’re welcomed anymore,” the insider asserted. “It’s the first time in our company’s history that they question Target’s commitment to that.”

Changes by the retail giant took employees by surprise, evidently. Many were unaware the Pride displays would be moved or removed altogether.

“The decisions are made high above us and staffers have no say,” the insider stated.

Fox News reported, “The insider noted that Target CEO Brian Cornell, who famously said ‘woke’ capitalism is ‘great’ for their brand days before the Pride controversy erupted, doesn’t have much to worry about. His predecessor, Gregg Steinhafel, received a ‘golden parachute’ of over $60 million when he was shown the door in 2014. If Steinhafel received that much nearly a decade ago, the insider suggested Cornell would walk away with significantly more regardless of any self-inflicted controversy.”

It has also come to light that Target has been partnering with the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN). The K-12 education group focuses on getting school districts to adopt policies that would keep parents from knowing about their child’s in-school gender transition, providing sexually explicit books to schools for free, and integrating gender ideology at all levels of curricula in public schools. GLSEN has received at least $2.1 million in donations from Target and their signs are predominantly displayed in the store’s Pride section.

Fox News also reported, “Separately, the retailer’s Pride collection has been linked to controversial designer Erik Carnell of Abprallen, who is an outspoken Satanist whose brand features occult imagery and messages like ‘Satan respects pronouns’ on brand apparel.”

Conservatives are enraged over the product line while the LGBTQ+ community feels that Target has not fully backed their cause. Target is getting crushed in the middle of an all-out culture war. Many have no sympathy for them.

Democratic California State Sen. Scott Weiner, who is a member of the LGBTQ legislative caucus, is proclaiming that activists need “a strategy on how to deal with corporations that are experiencing enormous pressure to throw LGBTQ people under the bus.”

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom accused Target of participating in a “systematic attack” on LGBTQ communities across the nation.

The insider told Fox News Digital that many Target stores are now expecting protests from both sides as Pride month plays out.

“It’s both sides now, as Pride kicks off, whereas we would have expected it from religious groups and churches, probably now it’s both,” the insider commented. “There is this uneasiness as we head into Pride. There is uneasiness for sure.”
