Months before he allegedly murdered four Idaho college students, Bryan Kohberger reportedly broke into a female friend’s Washington apartment as part of a plan to spy on her using security cameras he installed.
According to the latest episode of Dateline, Kohberger pulled a Manson-style “creepy crawl” through his colleague’s apartment — not stealing anything, but moving things around to frighten her into reaching out to him rather than the cops.

It worked.
When she called the 28-year-old criminology student for help, Kohberger allegedly came to the rescue, suggesting that he install for her a security system that authorities now believe he could have remotely accessed using her Wi-Fi password.
Ex-FBI profiler Greg Cooper called the move a “step in the progression” of Kohberger’s alleged criminal behavior.
The future suspected quadruple murderer was, in that moment, “upping the ante,” Cooper said.

“I would expect that he orchestrated the whole thing, he was not looking at her as a potential victim necessarily,” he told Dateline. “But he orchestrated it so that she would come to him and that he would be able to help her.”
“It is another level of power and domination and control over another person,” he explained. “The hero image that he can portray – you’ve got this problem I’m here to solve the problem for you and to make it better for you.”
As BizPac Review reported, Kohberger was indicted by a grand jury on Wednesday in connection with the murders of Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, on November 13, 2022.
The five charges against the suspected killer include first-degree murder and burglary charges.

Kohberger is expected in court for arraignment on Monday, Fox LiveNOW reports. The indictment allows the District Attorney in the case to skip a preliminary hearing that was scheduled for June and avoid further delays.

The Dateline episode, “The Killings on King Rd.,” includes revealing interviews with FBI profilers, a forensic psychologist, friends of the victims, and one of Kohberger’s classmates.
“We have spoken to some of the leading authorities anywhere on some of the questions involved in this particular case,” Dateline host Keith Morrison told KTVB.
“When you trace his early life, it matches certain kinds of behaviors,” Morrison said.

The show reveals clues to the planning that went into the murders, including new information about the K-Bar knife and sheath that authorities believe was the murder weapon.
The knife was reportedly bought in April 2022, while Kohberger was still studying at DeSales University in Pennsylvania. He took the weapon with him when he moved to Washington.
“He had a fantasy of thinking about committing crimes for a long time with that knife and he had to become familiar with it, feel at ease with it,” Cooper said.
A gag order on the brutal case remains in place, DailyMail.com reports, “preventing anyone connected to the case from speaking publicly – though an appeal to overturn this will be heard on May 25 on behalf of the Associated Press and the Goncalves family.”
