Doocy grills KJP on why Biden is ‘so comfortable’ with cartels at the border: ‘Americans are being slaughtered’

The violence and death along the southern border with Mexico is regularly ignored by the agenda-driven media, but the industry was forced to cover the subject this week when it was learned that four Americans were shot at and kidnapped after crossing into Mexico from Brownsville, Texas.

The abduction was caught on video and it was learned on Tuesday that two of the four Americans died, the incident taking place across the border in Matamoros, which is reportedly home to warring factions of the Gulf drug cartel. The U.S. Consulate issued an alert about the danger and local authorities warned people to shelter in place.

Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy grilled White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about why President Biden gives the drug cartels free rein along the border — the cartels control much of the border area and illegal immigrants enticed to the U.S. by Democrats must traverse this landscape and some pay with their lives. Women and young girls are frequently raped and often fall prey to human trafficking.

“Cartels kill Americans on this side of the border with drugs,” Doocy said. “And now they’re killing Americans on the other side of the border with guns. Why is President Biden so comfortable with cartels operating so close to the US?”

Jean-Pierre made a stunning, and evidently false, claim that fentanyl was “at historic lows” because of actions the administration has taken, in response:

Doocy pressed, “But to the violence aspect of it: Now Americans are being slaughtered. Would President Biden be taking the same approach if it was al Qaeda or ISIS operating just across the border from an American city?”

“The president takes this very seriously. He takes this very seriously,” Jean-Pierre said. “The FBI and other agencies have been on top of this from day one. And so that’s what he’s going to continue to do.”

“When it comes to Americans’ lives and when it comes to their — the safety of Americans, the president is always going to make sure that that is a top priority,” she added.

Of course, recent history tells us that when Jean-Pierre says Biden takes something “seriously,” that means he’s trying to skirt the issue — see classified documents.

“Would President Biden ever consider using the U.S. military to disrupt cartel operations?” Doocy followed up.

“I’m just not going to get into the military and how it’s being used,” the president’s affirmative action spokesperson replied, which seemed to indicate that the military could be playing some role here.
