Elon Musk says ‘don’t panic’ over UK health official’s alleged email about ‘deploying the new variant’

Behold the Lockdown Files!

Recently, a British anti-lockdown journalist, Isabel Oakeshott, leaked to The Telegraph more than 100,000 WhatsApp messages reportedly sent between British ministers, officials and others during the COVID pandemic.

While it’s not clear if the messages are real, concern is already growing over the eerie, mind-boggling words that are contained in the messages.

One set of messages shows British then-Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock talking about wanting to “deploy” a new COVID variant to “frighten the pants off” the public and make certain they comply with COVID rules.

This set of messages starts on Dec. 13th, 2020, when one of Hancock’s media advisers, Damon Poole, told him that Tory (conservative) members of Parliament were “furious already about the prospect” of even stricter COVID rules.

With this in mind, Poole then suggested that they “roll pitch with the new strain.”

“We frighten the pants off everyone with the new strain,” Hancock replied.

“Yep that’s what will get proper bahviour [sic] change,” Poole responded.

“When do we deploy the new variant,” Hancock then asked.

The Telegraph notes that this “discussion came two days after Mr. Hancock was informed of the emergence of a new variant – known as alpha or the Kent variant.”

“The rapid spread of a new variant of coronavirus has been blamed for the introduction of strict tier four mixing rules for millions of people, harsher restrictions on mixing at Christmas in England, Scotland and Wales, and other countries placing the UK on a travel ban,” the BBC reported a week later on the 20th of December.

News of Hancock’s message exchange has caused quite a stir both in the U.K. and here in the United States, where billionaire Elon Musk was quick to comment on it.

“Rule #1: Don’t panic,” he tweeted Sunday.

Look:

He was presumably mocking Hancock and other officials who have now been exposed for exploiting the virus to impose draconian restrictions on the public.

Many other Twitter users meanwhile said that Hancock’s messages are proof that officials planned the whole COVID pandemic from top to bottom.

But some people say all this is much ado about nothing.

“He clearly means when do they release news of the new variant,” one Hancock defender wrote, referencing his one message about deploying a “new variant.

Look:

Others meanwhile say it’s a mix. They admit that Hancock was clearly just talking about the alpha/Kent variant, but they also admit that him using news of the variant to scare civilians into compliance was wrong, wrong, wrong.

Speaking of being morally wrong, the Lockdown Files contain a bunch of other bombshells about Hancock.

For example, he at one point discussed how officials needed to “get heavy with the police” to crack down on COVID rule violators.

“WhatsApp messages in The Lockdown Files disclose how Matt Hancock and colleagues gave officers their ‘marching orders’ to enforce lockdown measures – days before Number 10 staff held a party in Downing Street,” according to The Telegraph.

“Despite ministers claiming in public that the police are operationally independent of the Government, the leaked messages reveal that senior officers were hauled into Number 10 to be told they should be stricter with the public,” the outlet notes.

As a  reminder, Number 10 is a reference to 10 Downing Street, the official residence and office of the prime minister …
