Leftists’ reaction to NYT reporter being spit on for not parroting radical LGBTQ narrative says everything

A New York Times journalist was reportedly spat on by an activist who claimed the paper “attempts to eliminate trans people.”

According to a statement from a Times spokesperson given to The Washington Post’s Erik Wemple, the attack happened on Feb. 19, after the journalist was “recognized in public.”

Publisher A.G. Sulzberger noted the alleged assault during his annual “2022 State of the Times” address to the paper’s staff.

Sulzberger warned that “this is a particularly dangerous and difficult time to be a journalist.”

Not only are journalists being arrested, detained, and even killed abroad for reporting in “places where they face retaliation from repressive leaders,” he said, “our journalists also regularly face online threats and abuse.”

“These incidents can be stressful and isolating, affecting our colleagues’ well-being and sense of safety,” the publisher stated.

Fox News Digital (FND) reported last month on the criticism The Times has received for its coverage of both sides of the “gender-affirming care” argument.

In an open letter to the paper, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) accused The Times of giving “extremist anti-LGBTQ activists” a platform, calling the opinion pieces from “gender-affirming” skeptics “appalling.”

“The activist group, joined by actress Lena Dunham and director Judd Apatow, demanded the paper stop publishing ‘both sides’ in its reporting on transgender topics,” according to FND.

For a piece that dared to quote medical professionals who point out that puberty blockers cause a decrease in bone density, the woke mob descended on The Times, accusing the paper of promoting “transphobia” and “anti-trans propaganda.”

Nearly 200 liberal New York Times contributors and some staffers blasted the November article as “pseudoscience” in an open letter sent to the paper last month. According to the virtue-signaling coalition, the paper was following “the lead of far-right hate groups in presenting gender diversity as a new controversy.”

It’s a bold statement from a group of writers who arrogantly believe they know more about the long-term effects of puberty blockers than those who have devoted their lives to actual science and medicine.

But when a fired-up activist spits on another human being simply for working at a place that doesn’t parrot their viewpoint, the reaction from liberals quickly goes from bold to bananas.

It seems the left is totally cool with someone spitting on people they don’t like.

So unhinged are some of the responses, it’s difficult to know for certain whether some are coming from parody accounts.

“NY Times makes a big deal out of an employee supposedly being spat on because of its incessant transphobia. It fails to mention incessant media transphobia (38 articles a day) just before the murder of 16-year-old Brianna Ghey,” one user fumed. “Cis tears are more important than trans lives.”

“Deserved,” stated another user, who justified the despicable act by claiming “I’m not spreading bigotry and fear against a group that literally just wants to exist.”

“[T]errible people deserve to be harassed and shamed for their terrible actions,” the user stated.

It’s a take that is, frankly, more disturbing than the actual assault.
