Leftists lose it when Candace Owens says she’d like to ‘punch’ Zelenskyy in the face

The pro-Ukraine media was triggered by commentary from conservative personality Candace Owens saying she’s like to “punch” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the face, claiming she did so while presenting “misleading” context.

Owens played a clip of Zelenskyy talking about American sons and daughters dying, saying: “Take a listen to Zelenskyy warning you of what will happen if you stop funding his lifestyle.”

“The U.S. will have to send their sons and daughters exactly the same way as we are sending our sons and daughters to war,” he says in the clip. “And they will have to fight because it’s nature that we’re talking about. And they will be dying, God forbid, because it’s a horrible thing.”

“Oof,” Owens said in reaction. “I am not going to say that I’d like to punch Zelenskyy in the face, because that’s violent. But I am saying that if I could get away with punching one person in the face and have no consequences, it would be President Zelenskyy.

“I can’t even tell you how much — oof — I harbor for him,” she continued. “The audacity to tell you that the consequence is going to be that your sons and daughters are going to fight and die if you don’t help him secure a win against Russia. Wow. That’s bold.”

Owens would then cite the level of support Ukraine enjoys in the U.S. to add, “But why shouldn’t he be feeling bold? He’s got, he’s got our congressmen waving the Ukrainian flag in our chambers, right? In our congressional chambers.”

Zelenskyy was hypothesizing on what would ultimately occur should the U.S. decrease or withdraw its level of support and Russia wins the war — in effect, saying the U.S. would eventually end up in a war with Russia because Vladimir Putin would enter Baltic states that are NATO member states, triggering NATO’s Article 5 mutual defense pact.

And while he thanked America for its support, the Ukrainian president should have taken care to speak carefully about American sons and daughters dying on Ukrainian battlefields.

Newsweek zinged Owens’s efforts, “The clip was removed from its important and clarifying context, giving a misleading impression of what Zelensky said.”

While the left automatically labels anyone who opposes President Biden’s blank-check approach to the Ukraine-Russia war “pro-Putin,” there are legitimate concerns about mission creep taking place against a nation that poses a clear nuclear threat. Is Ukraine worth World War III? Russia has proven in getting bogged down in Ukraine that its military is not nearly as powerful as some would have you believe. At the same time, if backed into a corner, Putin can be lethal with his vast nuclear arsenal.
