Fox News Chief Political Analyst Brit Hume bashed former President Trump once again during Monday’s “Special Report” with Fox News host Bret Baier, declaring that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) is a threat to him and that he is viewed as a “loser” by some voters, casting doubt on his 2024 run for the presidency.

Baier noted, “Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, is taking a road test on different issues around the country. He is getting backlash, or I guess offensive language from the former president.”
“Well, that was inevitable, I think, because, obviously, Mr. Trump recognizes that this governor who just won reelection by nearly 20 points is at the moment in the eyes of most people a winner, whereas he, Mr. Trump – although there’s skeptics about how it happened – was a loser,” Hume declared.
“And he hates that. Trump really doesn’t like that. And, therefore, he doesn’t like DeSantis. And he’ll be laying about himself in many directions if many more candidates get in the race. I’m not sure that act will play as well this time as it did back in 2016. I think there’s real reason to doubt that,” he added while discussing DeSantis traveling to New York City for a law enforcement event.
Baier responded, “Well, probably have a lot of candidates to go.”
Hume has been very critical of the former president following the Capitol riot and often suggests Trump’s influence within the GOP is diminishing.
Last November he said Trump’s time as the shining star and undisputed leader of the Republican Party could be coming to an end.

“While he maintains real influence within the Republican Party, no two ways about that, but it has begun to fade,” Hume stated.
“A great many people who were with him perhaps up until then began to move away from him,” he claimed at the time. “He never has really done anything to change that, he has continued to insist that the election was stolen from him, that he should be the real president, and so forth.”
It is becoming apparent that Hume is a supporter of DeSantis. He retweeted a message from a professor on Sunday accusing Trump of “DeSantis Derangement Syndrome.”

Despite Hume’s assertions, Trump is still a political powerhouse and holds huge sway within the Republican Party.
Trump and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley are the only two Republicans to throw their hat into the 2024 presidential ring so far but the Florida governor could potentially announce his candidacy before long.
The former president has gone on the offensive and has repeatedly attacked DeSantis:
Trump told the Wall Street Journal in an interview, “If he did run, I will tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering. I know more about him than anybody other than perhaps his wife, who is really running his campaign.”
Despite being called a plethora of names by Trump, DeSantis has not clapped back at the former president. Instead, he is making great progress in Florida at reining in woke policies.
He embarked on a pro-police tour of blue cities Monday, traveling to New York City, Philadelphia, and Chicago where he met with sheriffs, chiefs of police, and other local law enforcement officials who feel unsupported by their local governments, according to Fox News Digital.
“If you’re an office holder, and you’re just sitting there twiddling your thumbs and not getting anything done, no one ever says anything,” the governor responded to those criticizing him. “You can kind of just fly under the radar. But when you’re out there leading, when you’re out there setting the agenda, not just for Florida, but really for the nation, which we’ve done over the last few years, people see that. And the people that don’t necessarily like that are going to respond accordingly. But I can just tell you, if people are not firing at me, then I must not be doing my job.”
