Biden: At lunch, me and Kamala used notecards to cook up a way to fix technology ‘damaging’ kids

During a Washington, D.C. conference of the National Association of Counties on Tuesday, President Biden claimed that he had lunch with Vice President Kamala Harris and they discussed how to fix Big Tech and protect kids from “damaging” technology using legislation that also encompasses gun control.

Biden launched into the idea while discussing mental health and lauding the accomplishments of the American Rescue Plan.

“The American Rescue Plan also provided $12 billion to address mental health needs arising from the pandemic. I know that addressing mental health is a priority for so many of you in this organization,” the president remarked.

“And, by the way, one of the things I broke down — I had lunch with the vice president today. And I keep little notecards about what I think we have to do. And I said, ‘We have to pass legislation on the damaging technology that’s having an effect on our kids. We’ve got to change the way the Internet works and the way people can — are able to use our children.’ It’s got to stop,” he said, asserting that it is for the children but sounding more and more like it’s really all about censorship.

The president seemed to be referring to comments he made during his State of the Union address when he told lawmakers, “And it’s time to pass bipartisan legislation to stop Big Tech from collecting personal data on kids and teenagers online, ban targeted advertising to children, and impose stricter limits on the personal data that companies collect on all of us.”

Biden went on to highlight how funds from the American Rescue Plan are being spent by leftist counties across the nation.

“Milwaukee County is using Rescue funds to mentor kids involved in the criminal justice system. LA County is offering job training for kids in vulnerable populations,” he bragged.

And then came the proposed gun legislation that he is pushing for in the name of protecting children from predatory technology. It’s a new twist on an old goal for Democrats and utterly predictable.

“With the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most significant gun safety legislation in 30 years, we’re providing another $10 billion to prevent violence and threat of — and threats resulting in human trauma,” the president proclaimed.

“Two billion of that is for our young people, in particular, to pay for things like school counselors,” he noted.

“And as part of the Unity Agenda in the State of the Union, I called for a surge in resources to deal with fentanyl — the fentanyl ep… epi… epidemic that I know is devastating many of your communities,” Biden said, segueing into his disingenuous claim that he is fighting against drug trafficking at the border.

The president laid the groundwork for that proposal in the wake of calling for a ban on assault weapons after the Michigan State University shooting where three were killed and five were wounded.

“It’s a family’s worst nightmare,” Biden declared. “It’s happening far too often in this country.”

“There is no rationale for assault weapons and magazines that hold 50, 70 bullets,” he asserted.

Biden also divisively addressed the looming fight with Republicans over the debt ceiling, “I believe we can be fiscally responsible without threatening to send our country into chaos. They want to extend the Trump tax cuts on the previous four years, which cost $2.7 trillion to the deficit – extended. And guess who gets it? You all don’t.”

“We’ll cut the deficit by another 2 trillion in the next 10 years, and I’ll lay it out in detail,” he said, alluding to his upcoming budget which is slated to be released on March 9.
