FBI search of Biden’s vacation home with consent of president’s attorneys raises eyebrows

President Joe Biden’s attorney confirmed Wednesday morning that the FBI expanded their investigation of classified documents to include his Delaware beach house one day after revealing the Justice Department did, in fact, conduct a search of the think tank office in November.

The methodical and incremental progression by the Justice Department into Biden’s classified document scandal has kept the story front and center rather than dispelling it to move onto the next news cycle. Now, more than a week after CBS reported the FBI would be expanding their search beyond the Penn Biden Center and his Wilmington, Delaware home, multiple outlets have confirmed that the FBI has begun conducting a search of the president’s home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

“FBI agents, as we speak, are searching President Biden’s Rehoboth Beach home for classified documents,” NBC News White House correspondent Kristen Welker reported from the White House Wednesday. “This comes of course after there have been a discovery of a number of batches at his think tank here in Washington and also at his home in Wilmington, Delaware.”

Bob Bauer, Biden’s personal attorney, released a statement as the news broke that read: “Today, with the President’s full support and cooperation, the DOJ is conducting a planned search of his home in Rehoboth, Delaware. Under DOJ’s standard procedures, in the interests of operational security and integrity, it sought to do this work without advance public notice, and we agreed to cooperate. The search today is a further step in a thorough and timely DOJ process we will continue to fully support and facilitate. We will have further information at the conclusion of today’s search.”

Weeks into the scandal, it was reported yesterday, amid repeated claims of transparency and full cooperation, that following the initial discovery of documents at then-former Vice President Biden’s office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, the FBI conducted a thorough search of the place.

As Fox News host Sean Hannity said, “Now they hid this discovery from you, the American people until it was leaked to the press, but that was a whopping 68 days later. By the way, in the interim, while all this was going on, they did, in fact, appoint a special counsel to investigate [former President] Donald Trump.”

With the story developing, predictions began flying in as to whether any discoveries will be made at the new search location or if the protracted nature of the investigation was intentional to allow Biden’s attorneys the time to clear out any harmful evidence.

The slow boil tacking on more to the classified document scandal only stood to further contrast to some of how disparate the treatment of Trump by the Justice Department was when the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago in August. As one user on social media suggested, “Biden’s doc scandal is making Trump look like an angel.”
