Somehow by divine providence, a twin infant boy who had been kidnapped last week was found alive and well by two Indianapolis police officers after they gave up looking for him for the day and stopped to get something to eat at Papa John’s.

The five-month-old twins, Kyair and Kason Thomas were taken last Monday when their mother, Wilhelmina Thomas, parked and got out to pick up a pizza for a Doordash order, leaving the car running when she did so. The thief took off in the car with both little boys.
Kyair Thomas was found in the early morning hours on Tuesday. A person who was walking around the economy parking lot at Dayton International Airport heard a baby crying. He found the twin in a car seat, wrapped in a quilt. He proceeded to call 911 and police arrived on the scene and took charge of the infant. The child was reunited with his parents.
His brother was nowhere to be found and the massive search for the child continued for the next three days.
They spent most of Thursday looking for the child and gave up late Thursday afternoon and stopped at a Papa John’s restaurant to get something to eat. In what seemed to be a Christmas miracle, the officers spotted the car across from the restaurant in a parking lot where it had sat for a few days. Little Kason Thomas was in the car, alive and well.

“Fortunately, they found a baby in the car that had been sitting there for a few days,” an employee said according to WISH-TV. “Thank God he was OK.”
“We stopped to decompress and talk about the day and what happened to Kason so as parents we understand,” Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer Shawn Anderson told the local news station in an interview. “It was time for us to decompress because we were disappointed that we could not find him and then God opened up the heavens to us and almost took him and put him right in our hands.”
“He was a little cold, but we were able to pick him up and warm him up,” said Sgt. Richard El, according to Fox 59.
The employee had seen the car sitting there, but abandoned cars are pretty common so he didn’t think much of it.

He also noted that he saw the suspect on Tuesday when she came in looking for a job.
“She came in Tuesday morning probably around 8 o’clock and was asking about bus passes and asking if we were hiring. I didn’t think too much about it. She was here for about 20 minutes and left and walked right past the car, and I didn’t see her again,” he recounted.
The suspect has been identified as Nalah Jackson, 24, who left the pizza place by a side door, hopped in the running car, and sped off. Police say she is homeless and has a previous criminal record that includes theft, receiving stolen property, interference with custody, and endangering children.

Jackson was charged with two counts of kidnapping by the Franklin County court and on Tuesday a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was arrested on Wednesday according to WBNS. She now faces charges in Ohio and federal charges for taking Kason Thomas across state lines.
The twins’ family called the discovery a “miracle” in an interview with WBNS.
“It’s going to be the best Christmas ever,” said LaFonda Thomas, the twins’ ecstatic grandmother.
