Twitter snowflakes melting! Hundreds resign, offices locked as Musk calls for commitment to hard work

Hundreds of Twitter employees resigned or ignored Elon Musk’s call for “extremely hardcore” work if they wanted to keep their jobs, with liberals calling it Musk’s “hellscape” as he reportedly had offices locked to prevent sabotage after the move.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the company could lose up to 75 percent of its remaining workforce over the ultimatum that was sent via email to the remaining 3,700 employees left on Twitter’s payroll Wednesday.

They had until 5 pm ET on Thursday to either click a link accepting Musk’s requirement of “long hours at high intensity” or leave the company with three months severance pay. He contended that Twitter must be ready for an “increasingly competitive world” and therefore employees must be ready to give more.

“Going forward, to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0 and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we will need to be extremely hardcore. This will mean working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade,” Musk said in his message.

Kylie Robinson, a reporter with Fortune magazine, claims that she has contacts within Twitter that believe approximately 75 percent of those remaining at Twitter ignored the email and did not respond. The reporter later stated that it is unclear exactly how many did not respond to the link. A non-response to Musk would ostensibly work as a defacto resignation.

The Verge is reporting that somewhere around 2,900 of the remaining 3,700 employees have opted to stay. No one knows for sure yet the exact number of employees that will remain on board.

Those departing the company sent out goodbyes on the company’s Slack platform and on Twitter, according to The New York Times. Workers who are staying on are locked out of their offices until Monday due to fear of sabotage, according to Zoë Schiffer who works at Platformer.

“Twitter just alerted employees that effective immediately, all office buildings are temporarily closed and badge access is suspended. No details given as to why. We’re hearing this is because Elon Musk and his team are terrified employees are going to sabotage the company. Also, they’re still trying to figure out which Twitter workers they need to cut access for,” she stated.

Musk sent out a tweet that made light of the drama at Twitter, “How do you make a small fortune in social media? Start out with a large one.”

He later added, “The best people are staying, so I’m not super worried.”

The attacks rolled in after Musk made his move.

Former New York Times reporter Steven Greenhouse whined that Musk’s email proves he’s turning Twitter into a “hellscape.”

“After firing half Twitter’s workforce and now demanding ‘long hours at high intensity,’ Musk seems to be doing his best to turn Twitter into a place where no one wants to work, where employees will be eager to escape from. Musk is turning Twitter into a hellscape for workers,” he remarked on Twitter.

WIRED senior writer Megan Farokhmanesh wrote, “’extremely hardcore’ might be the dweebiest way to tell your employees you plan to run them into the ground and destroy any semblance of a personal life, or else fire them. not content to be ruinously incompetent, he must also be embarrassing.”

Former Twitter worker and business mogul Katie Jacobs Stanton bitterly wrote, “In a million years, I never thought I would feel this, let alone Tweet this, but I would not recommend any person work at Twitter nor any brand advertise on Twitter given this toxic takeover.”

Those jumping ship were very public with their feelings on the way out of Twitter’s revolving door:
