Fox News asked Austin residents whether they thought it would be wise or acceptable for former President Trump to get back on Twitter now that Elon Musk owns the social media platform and got a variety of responses from across the political spectrum.

Some were all for it especially since, constitutionally, it concerns free speech.

“Yes, I think that he should be back [on] Twitter,” one respondent named Adiba told Fox News. “He has his own opinions, so I would like to hear about him, too.”

Others, not so much.

“It could be an issue because he does have a tendency to spread false information,” one man told an inquisitive Fox News reporter. However, he did say that he found Trump’s tweets “more entertaining than anything.”

“I don’t think he would come back since now he has his own social media,” a woman told the reporter. “I think it would kind of be like bad marketing for his own social media platform if he did that.”

“And ’cause his whole thing is that he’s a really smart businessman, I don’t think that’s a smart business move,” she noted.

But another woman asserted that it would be “great” to have Trump back on Twitter.

“I feel like everyone should have a freakin’ voice,” she emphatically stated.

“He can be on the platform. As long as they’re still gonna look into his account and make sure his tweets are appropriate, then I don’t see why not,” another woman commented, endorsing further censorship of the former president.

Prior to Musk finalizing the deal for Twitter, he said he “would reverse the permanent ban” on Trump. The former president has asserted that he will stay on his own social media platform, Truth Social. But it has to be tempting for him because he had millions of Twitter followers before he was summarily banned after tweets he made following the January 6th riot. It would make it much easier to get his message out in the upcoming presidential election should he decide to run.

“I am staying on Truth. I like it better, I like the way it works, I like Elon, but I’m staying on Truth,” he told Fox News on Musk’s first full day as Twitter CEO.

The leftist media is jumping on the issue, twisting it and claiming that Trump has said he can’t go back to Twitter because Truth Social is too intertwined with his image and brand to let it fail. That report comes from The Washington Post, so many see it as highly suspect.

Meanwhile, Trump evidently had a lot to say about the success of media outlets and social media platforms due to his input.

“If CNN were smart, they’d open up a Conservative network, only have me on, and it would be the most successful network in History. Fox only made it because of me, Twitter only made it because of me, and even Facebook is now in the tubes, having lost almost $90 billion in value since I was taken off, which was considered one of the biggest mistakes in business over the last two years, because with Trump go tens of millions of people who believe in MAGA, who want to Make America Great Again, and Put America First!” Trump wrote on Truth Social Friday.
