In a battle of billionaires, new Twitter owner Elon Musk dunked on NBA superstar, China appeaser and Democratic Party mouthpiece LeBron James after the Los Angeles Lakers forward lent his outsized voice to push a conspiracy theory that the platform has been overrun with racists since the $44 billion deal closed on Thursday.
On Saturday, King James who fancies himself to be a self-styled race prophet took to Twitter to announce to his 53 million followers and a left-wing activist media that amplifies every one of his whacky, anti-cop racial diatribes to promote a story that there has been a “scary as f**'” explosion of mentions of the dreaded N-word since Musk took control of the San Francisco based tech giant.
‘I dont know Elon Musk and, tbh, I could care less who owns twitter. But I will say that if this is true, I hope he and his people take this very seriously because this is scary AF. So many damn unfit people saying hate speech is free speech,” James wrote in a remark that was picked up by the press and social media trolls who are outraged that Musk would return free speech to the platform.
But if there is one thing that James is more adept at than shooting the basketball, it’s shooting off his big, uninformed mouth with zero regards to the facts, and once again, he made a fool out of himself with his promotion of a race hoax.
Musk responded to James by retweeting Twitter’s Head of Safety & Integrity Yoel Roth whose team was able to quickly determine that the use of the offensive term came from a small number of fake accounts that had been identified and that those responsible were being banned.
“Nearly all of these accounts are inauthentic. We’ve taken action to ban the users involved in this trolling campaign — and are going to continue working to address this in the days to come to make Twitter safe and welcoming for everyone,” Roth wrote in the message that was re-tweeted by his new boss.

“Over the last 48 hours, we’ve seen a small number of accounts post a ton of Tweets that include slurs and other derogatory terms. To give you a sense of scale: More than 50,000 Tweets repeatedly using a particular slur came from just 300 accounts,” Roth wrote on Saturday.

It’s been tough going on the court this year for James with his Lakers off to a miserable 0-5 start before Sunday night’s home game against the Denver Nuggets.
The biggest problem with James isn’t that he’s simply an ill-informed bigot with an itchy Twitter trigger finger, it’s that the media amplifies his every word as if it were chiseled onto tablets that Moses carried down from Mount Sinai, and once again, that was the case with the false alarm about the N-word.
