Customs and Border Patrol is reporting that the number of illegal immigrants crossing the southern U.S. border broke records for a single month and a single year, and that’s not including the ones that got away or went undetected.
The numbers were dumped late Friday night showing that there were 227,547 “migrant encounters” last month alone on the border.
For the fiscal year that ended in September 2022, a total of 2,378,944 illegal immigrants were intercepted, which is the highest for any year ever on record.
The numbers have massively jumped under the Biden administration’s watch or lack thereof. There were 1.734 million illegal alien crossings in 2021. In 2020, there were 458,000 and in 2019, there were 978,000.

Comparing the month of September over the last four years for illegal crossings is revealing. In 2021, there were 192,001. In 2020, there were 57,674 and in 2019, there were 52,546. Many of the illegal immigrants are reportedly coming from authoritarian regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba.

Many believe the skyrocketing number of illegal immigrants coming into the United States is sure to negatively impact the midterm elections. Making the matter even more glaring, is that many of those apprehended will simply be released into the U.S.
Vice President Kamala Harris has essentially been AWOL at the border despite it being assigned to her as a priority. President Joe Biden sought to end Title 42, which would immediately expel migrants caught crossing into the U.S. due to COVID concerns. Neither of those facts is a good look for the Democrats currently.
In 2022, federal authorities arrested more than 2.493 million illegal immigrants, according to the Daily Mail. That trounced 2021’s record of more than 1.7 million arrests. And that doesn’t address the number of terrorists coming across the border.
BREAKING: There were 20 arrests of known or suspected terrorists on the FBI’s terror watchlist at the border in September, according to new CBP numbers.
FY’22 ended with 98 terror watchlist arrests.
That’s almost quadruple the previous 5 years combined.

The CBP is attempting to put a positive spin on the catastrophe but it is unlikely to work at this point.
“While failing regimes in Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua continued to drive a new wave of migration across the western Hemisphere, the number of Venezuelans arriving at the southern border decreased sharply nearly every day since we launched additional joint actions with Mexico to reduce irregular migration and create a more fair, orderly and safe process for people fleeing the humanitarian and economic crisis in their country,” CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus commented.
“Over the past week, the number of Venezuelans attempting to enter the country fell more than 80 percent compared to the week prior to the launch of the joint enforcement actions,” he said, ignoring that the overall illegal immigration numbers skyrocketed.
Remember, the Venezuelan government is releasing its most violent criminals, and sending them with migrants to the southern Texas.

“While this early data is not reflected in the latest report, it confirms what we’ve said all along: when there is a lawful and orderly way to enter the country, individuals will be less likely to put their lives in the hands of smugglers and try to cross the border unlawfully,” he stated.
By most accounts, Magnus has done an abysmal job while being in charge of the CBP. But he’s definitely a friend to DHS, President Biden, leftists, and illegal immigrants.
“CBP and DHS will continue to work with our partners in the region to address the root causes of migration, expand legal pathways, facilitate removals, and take thousands of smugglers off the streets. No matter what smugglers say, those who do not have a legal basis to remain in the country will be removed and people should not make the dangerous journey,” he pontificated.
Despite the incompetence of Magnus and his penchant for falling asleep, the blame for the border mess lies with Biden. But it is notable that Magnus is just as sleepy as the president is.

According to Politico, no fewer than six sources have witnessed Magnus “fall asleep during multiple meetings, including one earlier this year on how to handle the current swell of Venezuelans crossing the border.” Magnus admits he does experience “brief periods of tiredness” as a side effect of his multiple sclerosis.
The Washington Examiner points out, “Weird that this fact never came up in his Senate confirmation hearing.”
Meanwhile, the Biden administration dishonestly keeps on trying to blame former President Trump for the chaos at the border.
VP Kamala Harris insisted the U.S.-Mexico border was secure but blamed the Trump administration for a “broken” immigration system just last month.
Vice President Harris has spent the last two years claiming the border is “secure” despite record levels of illegal immigration.

“I think that there is no question that we have to do what the president and I asked Congress to do, the first request we made: pass a bill to create a pathway to citizenship,” Harris asserted. “The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system, in particular, over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed.”
“We’re going to have two million people cross this border for the first time ever. You’re confident this border is secure?” NBC’s Chuck Todd asked her during an interview.

“We have a secure border in that that is a priority for any nation including ours in our administration,” Harris nonsensically replied. “But there are still a lot of problems that we are trying to fix.”
The record-smashing number of illegal immigrants coming across the border is likely to cost the Democrats dearly in the midterm elections, especially in Arizona where the border issue and inflation are the top priority for voters.
