President Biden went crawling to Saudi Arabia to allegedly beg them and other OPEC members to hold off until after the midterm elections before announcing oil production cuts and now that they have refused, he is vowing retaliation against them.

The shockingly brazen and manipulative move by Biden did not impress the Saudis. He used Russia’s war in Ukraine as an excuse that the monarchy purportedly saw right through.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Saudis flatly rejected Biden’s request. They saw it for what it obviously is… a “political gambit by the Biden administration to avoid bad news.” To say they have no respect for Biden is an understatement.
The Middle East oil cartel, which controls approximately 30 percent of the world’s oil supply, proceeded with production cuts. Along with much steeper-than-expected inflation numbers, the news sent the stock market plummeting once again.
With midterm elections just weeks away, that is very bad news for Democrats. As this plays out, the cost of a gallon of gas in the United States will skyrocket even further just before the elections.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Saudi government defended its move and stated that all OPEC decisions are based on economic forecasts and needs, according to CNBC.
“The Government of the Kingdom clarified through its continuous consultation with the US Administration that all economic analyses indicate that postponing the OPEC+ decision for a month, according to what has been suggested, would have had negative economic consequences,” the statement read, effectively tossing Biden under the bus.
It's an absolutely insane news day but this nugget that Biden begged OPEC to delay their production cut until after the midterms is pretty wild.
Then Biden followed by threatening retaliation when they didn't go along with it.

During the summer, Biden decided to visit Saudi Arabia, already planning to beg for oil while fist-bumping with Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman in July. The White House claimed that the meeting had nothing to do with elections.
“It’s categorically false to connect this to US elections,” National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson claimed, according to the Daily Mail. “It’s about the impact of this shortsighted decision to the global economy.”
Damage control at the White House kicked in with spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre baselessly asserting that Saudi Arabia is aligning itself with Russia. Democrats are prepping to deny arms sales to Saudi Arabia because they would not play political ball with them.
So the Biden "October surprise" was to get Saudi Arabia and OPEC to put off announcement of negative oil price news until after our elections. https://t.co/sOhJH5bxlq

“We believe by the decision that OPEC+ made last week, they’re certainly aligning themselves with Russia, and right now this is not a time to be aligning with Russia, especially this brutal, unprecedented war that they have started in Ukraine and we’ve been very clear about that,” she said using the war once again as an excuse just as the White House used the pandemic for all kinds of overreach.
Other high-level Democrats are now calling for a reevaluation of the United States’ relationship with Saudi Arabia.
“This is a relationship that we need to continue to reevaluate, that we need to be willing to revisit,” White House national security spokesman John Kirby told CNN Tuesday.

“The president believes that we should review the bilateral relationship with Saudi Arabia and to take take a look to see if that relationship is where it needs to be and that it is serving our national security interests and he is willing to discuss this relationship with members of Congress,” Kirby said.
“In recent weeks, the Saudis conveyed to us – privately and publicly – their intention to reduce oil production, which they knew would increase Russian revenues and blunt the effectiveness of sanctions. That is the wrong direction,” he stated according to CNBC. “We presented Saudi Arabia with analysis to show that there was no market basis to cut production targets, and that they could easily wait for the next OPEC meeting to see how things developed.”
“Other OPEC nations communicated to us privately that they also disagreed with the Saudi decision, but felt coerced to support Saudi’s direction,” Kirby said. “As the president has said, we are reevaluating our relationship with Saudi Arabia in light of these actions, and will continue to look for signs about where they stand in combatting Russian aggression.”
This looks an awful lot like the president of the United States threatening to remove weaponry from a purported ally unless that ally performs actions that help that president politically in advance of an election. Wasn't Trump impeached for that?

Democratic Senator Dick Durbin asserted that Saudi Arabia wants Russia to win the war in Ukraine.
“Do you think Saudi Arabia wants Russia to win in Ukraine?” CNN’s John Berman asked.
“Yes… let’s be very candid about this. It’s Putin and Saudi Arabia against the United States,” he wildly charged.
Durbin also tweeted that Saudi Arabia has “never been a trustworthy ally’ and it’s time for the U.S. to ‘imagine a world without their alliance.”
Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, who is the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that has veto power over foreign arms sales, said in a statement that he “will not green light any cooperation with Riyadh until the Kingdom reassesses its position with respect to the war in Ukraine.”
Rep. Ro Khanna of California and Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut both called for new legislation to “immediately halt all U.S. arms sales” to Saudi Arabia, in a joint editorial published in Politico on Sunday.
Democrats seem to now want to blame all the catastrophes they have created on Saudi Arabia and Russia, calling Putin a “nuclear bomb extortionist”
OPEC+’s cut of 2 million oil barrels per day will “worsen global inflation, undermine successful efforts in the U.S. to bring down the price of gas, and help fuel Putin’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine,” Khanna and Blumenthal wrote.
Other Democrats piled on.
“I thought the whole point of selling arms to the Gulf States despite their human rights abuses, nonsensical Yemen War, working against US interests in Libya, Sudan etc, was that when an international crisis came, the Gulf could choose America over Russia/China,” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) tweeted.

You know the democrats have hit rock bottom when their October surprise isn’t an attempt to damage their opponents, but is an attempt to limit the damage to themselves.
