Wealthy Democrats who consistently reprimand Republicans over the benefits of illegal immigration are noticeably silent when those seeking sanctuary end up in their neighborhoods. After all, rich celebrities like former President Obama and his friends in the protected class are just trying to enjoy their summers in lovely Martha’s Vineyard!
Multiple requests for comment by Fox News Digital have reportedly been denied by representatives of the former president concerning whether or not the Obamas will open up their 29-acre estate and offer refuge to the newly-arrived illegal immigrants. The outlet also reached out – unsuccessfully – to representatives of wealthy public figures who are known supporters of President Joe Biden and also own homes on the island where the seminal summer blockbuster “Jaws” was filmed.
Some of those celebrity homeowners include singer James Taylor, director Spike Lee and comedian David Letterman. Their silence is deafening — which, in the case of James Taylor, might come as a relief to some.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has drawn the ire of elitist Democrats far and wide, and all for simply giving them a taste of what border states are suffering ten-fold as a result of the Biden regime’s disastrous immigration policies.
“States like Massachusetts, New York and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden administration’s open border policies,” DeSantis spokesperson Taryn Fenske told Fox News Digital.
Despite voting overwhelmingly for then-candidate Joe Biden by a margin of 77.7 percent, the inhabitants of Martha’s Vineyard don’t appear to be too thrilled when faced with the realities of the Biden presidency.
Conservatives on social media were quick to point out the glaring hypocrisy which is part and parcel of left-wing ideology.
“Obama’s compound alone – if cots, trailers and tents are installed – could easily house several thousand illegal migrants,” former Trump adviser Stephen Miller tweeted. “Americans, during actual natural disasters (not illegal immigration for economic benefit) have been forced to sleep in stadiums and makeshift FEMA shelters.”

Islander and crime novelist Jane Chittick suggested that Obama open up his estate and prove he actually cares about the supposed plight of the immigrants.
“I don’t think people like the Obamas with huge estates who live here in the summer will care (about the migrants),” Chittick told the New York Post. “I would love to see the Obamas open up their huge property and erect tents and look after all these people while they’re being processed.”
But the citizens of the island have quickly solved their problem by humanely and compassionately whisking away their new neighbors to the military installation Joint Base Cape Cod on the mainland.

These were then-President Obama’s words in 2014:
“America is – and always has been – a nation of immigrants,” he said at a naturalization ceremony for service members and military spouses. “Throughout our history, immigrants have come to our shores in wave after wave from every corner of the globe. Every one of us, unless we’re Native American, has an ancestor who was born somewhere else. That’s what makes America special. That’s what makes us strong. The basic idea of welcoming immigrants to our shores is central to our way of life. It is in our DNA. ”
According to data from the Martha’s Vineyard Commission, the stated population of the island is a little over 17,000, but it increases “more than threefold in the summer with seasonal residents who have second homes here as well visitors who come for the season, a month, a week or perhaps only a day.”
Additionally, only 43 percent of the 17,000-plus homes on the island are occupied year-round.
Still, it seems that 50 extra illegal immigrants in need is just a bridge too far for the upper crust of leftist society.

“What they are doing is an illegal stunt, is a political stunt,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Thursday. “And it’s really just disrespectful to humanity. It doesn’t afford them any dignity, what they’re doing, when you are abandoning families and children in a place where they were told they were going to get housing.”
Jean-Pierre added, “It is just cruel, and it’s not about the process. Actually, It’s about a political tool or political stunt that they’re moving forward with.”
She must be talking about the clandestine flights sanctioned by the Biden regime in which illegal immigrants have been flown in the middle of the night to destinations like Florida, New York, Tennessee and the interior of Texas.
