Tons of summer homes empty as Martha’s Vineyard org starts urgent GoFundMe for immigrants but keeps money!

Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) may have initiated the relocating of illegal immigrants to progressive havens, but Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) perfected it earlier this week, flying 50 to Martha’s Vineyard and the reactionary fallout continued to reveal the depths of liberal hypocrisy.

The island sanctuary to the ultra-wealthy showed by example the meaning of the expression “socialism is for the people, not the person” as their stated policy of standing “with immigrants, with refugees, with indigenous peoples, and with people of all faiths” was proven to be just words. As covered by American Wire, barely a day had gone by with the illegals on Martha’s Vineyard before a “humanitarian crisis” had been declared and the National Guard was activated to help bus them to Joint Base Cape Cod.

The reported argument for them needing to be shuttled away was a lack of available housing as Massachusetts state Rep. Dylan Fernandes (D) had claimed, stating, “When you look at the limited housing options on Martha’s Vineyard, as I’m sure many of the folks here are aware, it’s likely we’re going to need an off-island location, but all that is being explored.”

Yet, the fallacy of that statement was readily disproven when looking beyond the capacity of the homeless shelters to the array of rentals available and using them as other progressive cities have done with negotiating deals with hotels.

As the Daily Mail reported, “Private rooms and small guest stays are on offer for $180 a night, which could have been used as a stop-gap for the migrants to be housed.”

Others looked into the available options and found between 50 and nearly 300 homes were available for rent depending on the search parameters.

Among the pricier locations per night was 3,000 square foot “The Carousel House,” featured on Vrbo for $1,375/night which has eight beds in six bedrooms but boasts that it can sleep 12. That comes in at just under $115/person for one night for comfortable accommodations solving roughly a quarter of the “humanitarian crisis” at one available rental.

While it may have been possible for an argument to be made that resources weren’t available, even that was readily debunked as one local member of the upper crust, who reportedly donated to border czar Vice President Kamala Harris no less than six times, had started a crowdsourcing fundraiser to help the illegals.

“You can’t make this stuff up. ‘URGENT PLEA’! The ultra-wealthy on Martha’s Vineyard has launched a GoFundMe fundraiser,” Townhall’s Mia Cathell posted on Twitter, “already raising over $36,000. Please help these struggling millionaires with multiple summer homes during this ‘humanitarian crisis.'”

“The organizer is an Ivy League alum from an affluent family and New York comms exec who donated 6x to Kamala Harris. Her wedding on Martha’s Vineyard was featured by NYT and her family’s $1.6 million+ home there sits near a private association beach,” she added.

With that money being raised to go toward the migrants, you’d expect that it would follow them to Joint Base Cape Cod. However, for the time being, it looks as though those monies were happily pocketed by the Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation at a final tally of over $42,000 “to distribute to the organizations with the most need.”

Other causes they are raising money for include, “addressing the effects of climate change on the island, ‘eradicating racism,’ understanding ‘the barriers that prevent equal rights for all,’ and ‘ultimately eliminating inequality and injustice.'”

However, nothing about covering the costs for illegal immigrants to stay on the island without being shunned by the super-tolerant left.

The same could be said for Airbnb itself which was more than happy to shell out the funds needed to help as many as 100,000 Ukrainians fleeing their homeland in the days after Russia invaded.

“These stays will be funded by Airbnb, Inc., donors to the Airbnb.org Refugee Fund, and the generosity of Hosts through Airbnb.org,” the hospitality company wrote on their website. As it happens, they had a message to offer as illegals were being bussed off Martha’s Vineyard despite already having the resources set up to aid refugees.

On Thursday, Airbnb released a statement on diversity goals ahead of the year 2025 writing, “Airbnb is committed to building a diverse workforce and inclusive culture, and we continue working to increase and sustain diverse representation across our company.”
