Gloria Romero, who is a Democrat and the former Majority Leader of the California State Senate, bluntly informed the left that if they thought she was appalled by Gov. Ron DeSantis’ actions, “they are dead wrong.”
The Democratic Latina is not shy about her stance on illegal immigration. She pointed out in a piece via the Daily Mail that over two million illegal immigrants will be arrested attempting to cross into the US in 2022. She further noted that Democrats simply won’t care or do anything about it.
Romero also highlighted the hypocrisy of progressives who lost their minds over DeSantis flying 50 illegal immigrants into the playground of the rich and elite, Martha’s Vineyard.
“I am telling you that if the Democratic party thinks that Latinos are outraged by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis sending migrants to Martha’s Vineyard – they are dead wrong!” she proclaimed.

“On Friday, the governor of Massachusetts dispatched the National Guard to whisk away these 50 migrants to a military base in Cape Cod that once housed hurricane disaster victims,” Romero wrote. “But what about the hundreds of migrants sleeping on the street of El Paso, Texas? Or the countless other migrants, sleeping outside in cities and towns across the U.S./Mexico border?”
“Overwhelming rural, poor, and largely Latino communities along the southern border are expected to absorb the costs of unprecedented migratory streams in a wide-open border, but Martha’s Vineyard cannot? Spare me!” she railed.
Romero went on to further excoriate the left in epic fashion.
“This Democratic stronghold — where the Obamas now reside — couldn’t stomach having 50 brown migrants in their midst without declaring an emergency and shipping them out of town within 24 hours,” she contended. “Liberals want open borders – just not in their immaculate backyards.”

“While smug liberals and virtue-signaling progressives pretend that their immigration policies are ‘compassionate,’ Latinos know they are just cruel, naked politics,” Romero charged.
“Good for Governor DeSantis, and Governor Greg Abbott in Texas and Governor Doug Ducey in Arizona for sending this powerful message by making Democrats shoulder their ‘fair share’ of the burden of a broken immigration system,” she asserted. “After all, isn’t it the Democrats who scream about the rich shouldering their ‘fair share’?”

“Let the folks in Martha’s Vineyard, Chicago, New York City, and Washington D.C. get a taste of what it feels like to live in a New World border-less state,” she continued. “The Democratic Party thought these policies would win the hearts and minds of Latinos everywhere. How wrong could they have been?”
“The brutality of an ever more complex human smuggling operation on the southern border has turned Latinos, and especially south Texas Democrats, against the party,” Romero warned.
“What is not addressed by Democrats’ ‘compassion’ is that they are incentivizing desperate people—including families giving up their children—to get into the US. Latinos know the horrors of the Democrat-condoned open-border system. We know that the Mexican cartels have transformed this naked political power-play into a lucrative drug smuggling and human trafficking operation,” she wrote.
“Crossers must pay thousands of dollars to a smuggler, enduring rape and sexual violence along the way. ‘The Rape Tree’ is not urban legend—but rather real symbols whereby trees along the border are ‘decorated’ with the panties and undergarments of women being smuggled after they have been raped,” Romero added.

She then mocked Democrats for pretending to care.
“Once upon a time, progressives like Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went to the border and had themselves photographed crying at the conditions they saw. Where are they now?” Romero charged.
“Increasingly Latinos have also realized that if we have been treated as pawns by anyone – it is the Democratic Party. Our votes come in handy at election time but over the years, the needs and values of Latinos have been ignored and we have increasingly been insulted,” she asserted.
She brought up President Biden never visiting the border and Vice President Harris only visiting El Paso. Then she recalled first lady Jill Biden’s infamous “taco” comment.
“Democratic operatives, including mainstream press that has shilled for Democrats, have referred to this revolt of the taco people as being ‘far right’, or ‘not the real deal,'” Romero said.

“But recently, Democrats in south Texas were stung when one of the strongest Democratic-controlled seats overwhelmingly voted for a Trump-supporting Latina Republican, Mayra Flores, to defeat their handpicked Democrat. Predictably, the campaign of the Democratic challenger to Rep. Flores called her ‘Miss Frijoles,'” she stated.
Then Romero gave a stark warning to Democrats, “This was the first time in over a century that a solid Democratic district with an overwhelming Latino electorate had turned their backs on the Democratic Party. And this won’t be the last time. The Latino agenda is an American agenda.”
“We want opportunity—not guaranteed outcomes. We want prosperity—not a redistribution of wealth. We want our values respected—not ridiculed. We celebrate motherhood—not Birthing Peoplehood (in fact, Latinos of Mexican descent celebrate two Mother’s days!). Latinos may be divided on reproductive rights, but overwhelmingly reject infanticide and growing Democratic support for abortion on demand even up to birth. Latinos are entrepreneurial— we believe in the American Dream—and value citizenship,” she commented.
Romero continued to list other priorities for the Latino community, “While we want the respect of the authorities, we reject the radical ‘defund the police’ movements as we tend to be disproportionate victims of violent crime. We want jobs—not handouts. We want school choice—not mandated enrollment in government schools which generationally have failed to deliver quality educations.”

“What we don’t want: insulting unserious proposals just ahead of national elections to preserve Democratic Party hegemony in Congress,” she chided the left.
“We love our country, value citizenship, want a fair immigration system, and protected by secure borders on all shores. There’s nothing ‘racist’ about that. Good for you DeSantis – keep the flights coming,” she said praising the Florida governor. “If they won’t go to the border, bring the border to them.”
