Former President Trump called into a rally for jailed Capitol riot defendants in Washington, D.C. to speak with Jan. 6 protester Ashli Babbitt’s mother, Micki Witthoeft, and called the Capitol police officer who shot and killed her a “disgrace.”

A video of the call was shared on Twitter by News2Share editor-in-chief Ford Fischer. According to him, the call took place outside the D.C. jail where the defendants are being held.
Witthoeft can be seen in the video answering the call from Trump and putting it on speakerphone for all to hear. The former president could be heard loud and clear and he was definitive in his support for Babbitt and his disgust for the officer that took her life.
“Well, Micki, it’s an honor to be with you, and to everybody listening, it’s a terrible thing that has happened to a lot of people that are being treated very, very unfairly. We love Ashli and it was just so horrible what happened to her. That man that shot Ashli is a disgrace,” Trump asserted.
“And then he goes on television and it looks like he was actually bragging about it,” the former president added, expressing his disdain for the officer. “There has never been a thing like this that has happened in our country.”
President Donald Trump spoke tonight on the phone to Micki Witthoeft, mother of Ashli Babbitt, as she rallied for January 6 defendants outside DC jail.

“We are with you. We are working with a lot of different people on this. We can’t let this happen,” he continued. “This has never happened before.”
Trump would go on to compare the thuggish treatment of the Jan. 6 protesters to the violent antics that were carried out by Black Lives Matter and Antifa in the summer of 2020 that went mostly unpunished.
“You look at all of the riots that took place for the last long period of time, not just in 2020, the last long period of time, and almost nothing has happened to those people,” he pointed out. “And what they’re doing here is a disgrace.”
“God bless everybody, we are working very hard,” Trump told the crowd.
This isn’t the first time former President Trump has signaled his support for Ashli Babbitt’s family.
In October of last year, he sent a pre-recorded video to be played at an event celebrating Babbitt’s life on her birthday. https://t.co/hqhz87pCHY

Babbitt’s mother thanked the former president for calling and asserted that the Jan. 6 defendants inside appreciated his support. The jail was not identified and the number of defendants imprisoned there was also not revealed.
Witthoeft later said that it meant “a lot to me to know he’s supporting the J6’ers.”
“Don’t forget that unarmed American citizens were murdered that day. They were beaten by the Capitol police that day,” she stated.
An unarmed Ashli Babbitt was shot and killed on Jan. 6 by a Capitol police officer named Michael Byrd as she attempted to enter the Speaker’s Lobby through a barricaded doorway. The officer would be found innocent of any wrongdoing after his identity was kept secret for an extended period of time.
The requisite nut jobs also showed up at the rally. A protester in a chicken mask got behind Babbitt’s mother while she was on the phone with Trump and started brandishing a sign that said, “fart noises.” Supporters attempted to block the leftist with a flag. Chicken man, however, kept going back and forth showing his sign during the video, according to the HuffPost.
