GOP House members demand Mayorkas answer why he’s allowing illegals to use warrants as ID on planes

Two dozen House Republicans are demanding answers over what they call an “extremely troubling” TSA policy on allowing illegal immigrants to board planes using arrest warrants and related documents as identification.

On Monday, the group of GOP lawmakers led by Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona wrote a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas requesting an explanation about why the illegal aliens have been permitted to use civil immigration arrest warrants and deportation orders as identifying documents despite their not being included on the list of acceptable forms of ID put out by the Transportation Security Administration.

The letter starts off by scorching President Biden’s top immigration enforcement official for his ongoing failures: “Under your leadership the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is failing to take the steps necessary to achieve and maintain operational control of our borders. Instead of securing our borders, your department is facilitating the release of illegal aliens into the country. Your catch and release policies have made our country less secure and are encouraging illegal aliens to cross our borders.”

“These documents are not secure documents and can easily be forged, copied, or otherwise manipulated,” the letter, which was obtained by Fox News Digital reads. “Given the fact that American citizens are constantly being reminded that their IDs will soon need to be REAL ID compliant to board an airplane, it is extremely troubling that TSA is allowing illegal aliens to use nonsecure documents as IDs to board planes.”

TSA Administrator David Pekoske was asked at a July Senate hearing to provide a number of how many illegals with arrest warrants or deportation notices have been permitted to travel so far in the calendar year by GOP Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri.

“Under 1,000 sir,” he answered.

But the House lawmakers expressed skepticism at that number.

“This number seems extremely low given the fact that DHS has released nearly 500,000 illegal aliens into the United States so far this year,” they wrote.

“These individuals that have these arrest warrants, these arrest warrants were issued by Border Patrol or a customs officer, and they serve as a beginning of our identity verification process so you can’t walk up to a checkpoint, wave that form and then go right through into screening,” Pekoske said at the hearing.

Twitter users reacted to the news of the lawmakers’ letter to Secretary Mayorkas.

“The fact that U.S. taxpayer dollars are being used directly or indirectly to pay for illegal aliens to be transported throughout the country is a slap in the face to all law-abiding, tax-paying Americans,” the House members wrote.

“Instead of using taxpayer funds to transport illegal aliens, DHS should be using those funds to acquire additional detention space so that it may detain the illegal aliens as required by law,” they added, providing a list of questions that they expect Mayorkas to answer.

In addition to Congressman Biggs, the other House Republicans signing the letter include Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona, Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Rep. Chip Roy of Texas, and Rep. Moe Brooks of Alabama.
