The dragon and the eagle – China, America going in different directions

Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.

The situation vis a vis China is extremely dangerous, China’s military and navy build as the US shrinks, more concerned with political correctness than projecting power.

As in the days of the emperors, China sees herself as the Middle Kingdom, the center of the universe to which the Laowai, i.e., the foreigner, the “Big Nose,” must show due deference by doing the kowtow. China regards President Biden and his minions as inferior and the US as not a legitimate country. Bankers like CEO Jamie Dimon, of J.P. Morgan, reinforce this view. Dimon has said that in spite of China’s aggressive foreign policy and domestic repression, investment in China will grow and the US must ready itself to be a second-rate nation bowing to the ascendant Celestial Kingdom. This is all unnecessary and not inevitable. Greedy and seditious American bankers and businessmen and American foreign policy delusions have allowed China to grow at our expense to where the dragon now threatens our existence.

As China rises, the US militarily is declining with a senior leadership more interested in “equity,” “transgenderism,” co-ed showers, “Critical Race Theory” and homosexuality than in warfighting. Gen. Milley’s remarks tell the country that. The outward manifestation of military decline is in the services always wearing “battle dress,” even in garrison, instead of Service Dress Class A or B, as if ashamed to wear a uniform that displays decorations.

On soldiers’ uniforms, George Patton remarked about cost: “We could put them in overalls, it would be cheaper, but they wouldn’t look like soldiers or act like soldiers.” Since sloppy uniformity is now the norm, next, I suppose they will be addressing each other as “comrade” to further remove distinctions. Officers have been turned into just highly paid enlisted men, the privileges and dress of rank being eroded. Being an “Officer and a Gentleman” is now passé.

As the services waste money on “equity” and “racism” training — which is just anti-white racism, why would any white kid— the majority of the military and naval services, especially combat arms— join when the leadership denigrates the greatness of American history and the majority population? The recruiting numbers give you the answer — they won’t. A demoralized French army collapsed in six weeks in 1940; under the present leadership, which is demoralizing American forces, would they even last six weeks?

Money is also wasted on questionable equipment design. The huge MRAP vehicles (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) protect but have no leg room, nor do the Hummers if you’re taller than a Hobbit (at six feet I speak from experience). The government wasted money on new pistols because they’re “modular,” with infinitely variable grips (better for a woman’s smaller hands?), even when there were plenty of Beretta’s in the inventory. If you can’t handle the issued weapon, you don’t belong.

They wasted money on new M4 carbines when all you had to do was swap out the upper receiver group of the M-16 rifle if you wanted a shorter barrel. The army up-gunned the Stryker, essentially an armored car, to confront Russian tanks, a futile move as a Russian tank would pulverize a Stryker in a heartbeat. In my office, they got rid of excellent, and expensive, Herman Miller Aeron office chairs (about $600 each) and replaced them with chairs so uncomfortable they were painful to sit in, all because the army headquarters wanted to spend the money before the end of the fiscal year. The USN spent a fortune on a carrier catapult system that didn’t work, a program then-President Trump killed.

The services waste money on needless uniform changes — why does the USN need a camouflage uniform? The Army has since returned to a uniform resembling the old woodland pattern camo after spending a fortune on a “dazzle suit” that fell apart and photographed bright blue with a digital camera. The new field uniform bears a striking resemblance to the British Army uniform. Couldn’t the army have licensed from the British saving development costs? The USAF has its own version; was not using the Army pattern with USAF identification tags possible?

While the US wastes time and money and denigrates its own people, the Chinese dragon watches and plans its next move. If China invades Taiwan, or is it when, they will hit hard and fast and present the Biden-enfeebled US with a fait accompli. They will take out the communications network first, drop paratroopers to seize key installations and choke points, and then land seaborne troops in a massive invasion.

Biden is correctly perceived as weak and the US is led by a cabal that doesn’t believe in the country. If such a scenario unfolds, Japan will go nuclear and form an alliance with her immediate neighbors and Australia, maybe even India, to curb the dragon’s appetite. Meanwhile, the US, having been checkmated over Taiwan, will continue to decline, losing influence and friends, her government trusted by no one, not even her own citizens.
