Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas had the unmitigated nerve to claim the southern border “is secure” while Border Patrol agents face a tsunami of illegal immigrants flooding into the country.
Mayorkas made his outrageous assertion while speaking at the Aspen Security Forum on Tuesday when he was asked about the situation at the border. According to Fox News, over 200,000 migrant encounters have taken place there over the last three months alone.
The DHS chief acknowledged the situation was a “historic challenge” but nevertheless also claimed it was “secure.”
“Look, the border is secure,” he commented as though the idea that it wasn’t was absurd. “We are working to make the border more secure. That has been a historic challenge.”
This man is an embarrassment!

Then he pivoted to blame Republicans who have declared that they will not pass comprehensive immigration legislation because all it does is make the border even less secure. Numerous conservatives are digging in their heels, stating that they will not consider legislation that includes a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants already in the country until the border crisis is handled and over.
“I have said to a number of legislators who expressed to me that we need to address the challenge at the border before they pass legislation and I take issue with the math of holding the solution hostage until the problem is resolved,” Mayorkas charged during the forum.
“There is work to be done,” he glibly said, before asserting that “safe and secure are two different words.”
“There are smugglers that operate on the Mexican side of the border and placing one’s life in their hands is not safe,” Mayorkas proclaimed.
A number of lawmakers and conservatives including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) believe that not only should Mayorkas be removed from his position, he should also be impeached.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced last week that there were 207,000 migrant encounters at the border in June. At this same time last year, there were over 189,000. The report shows there were 105,161 migrants removed from the U.S. last month. That included 92,273 booted under the CDC’s Title 42 order. A whopping 79,652 migrants were released free-range into the US.
In fiscal year 2022, there have been 1,746,119 encounters at the southern border with illegal immigrants. There are still three months left in the fiscal year and that number has already surpassed the 1,734,686 encounters in fiscal year 2021.
Republicans are slamming Democrats and the Biden administration’s handling of the catastrophe at the border. They are laying the blame on the rolling back of Trump-era border policies such as the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), which required migrants to be returned to Mexico for the duration of their immigration hearings. The administration has also limited the scope and power of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), halted wall constructions, and imposed an asylum rule.
Please explain how over half a million flowing over the border In 3 months is secure?!?🙄

Oh it’s secure alright.
They have operations to distribute the illegals they are collecting at the border, giving them plane and train vouchers with instructions in a folder and a page that says “I cannot speak English, please help me”
And we’re paying for it.
This is TREASON.

The left continuously blames Trump and Republicans for the mess while asserting that the “root causes” of the problem are poverty, violence, and corruption in Central America along with climate change. They are seeking to end Title 42 expulsions as well claiming it is no longer needed since the pandemic is pretty much over. However, that legalese has kept the majority of illegal immigrants out of the US since March 2020. Getting rid of it will open the floodgates. A federal court has blocked that move so far.
Mayorkas has been very defensive over his handling of the border chaos. In April, he claimed that DHS inherited a broken and dismantled system that was already under strain and that only Congress could fix it.

“Yet, we have effectively managed an unprecedented number of non-citizens seeking to enter the United States,” he proudly told lawmakers as the invasion at the border continues unabated.
