In a major development in the story about the 10-year-old rape victim who had to flee state to get an abortion, an arrest has been made of the alleged rapist and it turns out that the suspect is an illegal immigrant.
The Columbus Dispatch reported that 27-year-old Gerson Fuentes was arrested on Tuesday and has confessed to the rape of the unnamed 10-year-old whose story was seized on by Democrats including President Joe Biden as a lurid example to promote their pro-abortion narrative after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. The story has been wielded like a bludgeon against Republicans including South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem.
“Columbus police were made aware of the girl’s pregnancy through a referral by Franklin County Children Services that was made by her mother on June 22, Det. Jeffrey Huhn testified Wednesday morning at Fuentes’ arraignment. On June 30, the girl underwent a medical abortion in Indianapolis, Huhn said,” the outlet reported. “Huhn also testified that DNA from the clinic in Indianapolis is being tested against samples from Fuentes, as well as the child’s siblings, to confirm contribution to the aborted fetus.”
Authorities have charged the suspect with rape, a first-degree felony in the Buckeye State, and his bail has been set at $2 million.

Fox News reported that Fuentes – a Guatemalan national – has had an ICE detainer placed on him and is in the country illegally, ICE confirmed to Fox News Digital that the suspect is indeed not in the U.S. lawfully.

The arrest comes as increasing scrutiny was being paid to the story with many suspecting that it was just another hoax and at least for now, those suspicions can be laid to rest although early jubilation by Democrats and their media allies that the rape story appears to be true could soon give way to dismay as it only confirms the fears that many of those who are here illegally are indeed criminals.

Leftists predictably piled on Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost who appeared on Fox News on Monday night where he said that there was “not a whisper” about a 10-year-old girl being raped and impregnated in an interview with host Jesse Watters.
Media personality Geraldo Rivera went directly for the jugular.
