White House spox confronted on Biden’s big lie after voicemail to son Hunter was released

The White House declined to answer questions about a voicemail from President Joe Biden to Hunter Biden reassuring him on a report about his relationship with a Chinese tycoon who has been called the “spy chief of China,” a message that calls into question the elder Biden’s insistence that he never discussed his son’s foreign business dealings with him.

In the voicemail that was left on Hunter’s iPhone and backed up to his abandoned laptop which was first reported by the Daily Mail, Biden told his son, “Hey pal, it’s Dad. It’s 8:15 on Wednesday night. If you get a chance just give me a call. Nothing urgent. I just wanted to talk to you.”

“I thought the article released online, it’s going to be printed tomorrow in the Times, was good. I think you’re clear. And anyway if you get a chance give me a call, I love you,” Biden said of the bombshell New York Times report on Hunter’s meeting at a Miami hotel with Ye Jianming of Chinese oil company CEFC China Energy, a man who has since been arrested.

During Tuesday’s daily press briefing, Fox News bulldog reporter Peter Doocy tried to get an answer out of Biden’s spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre who ducked the question.

Doocy asked, “Why is there a voice mail of the president talking to his son about his overseas business dealings if the president has said he’s never spoken to his son about his overseas business dealings?”

“Well, first, I’ll say that what the president said stands,” Jean-Pierre replied. “So, if he, if that’s what the president said, that, that is what stands…” as she talked over Doocy who was trying to ask a follow-up question.

“From this podium, I am not going to talk about alleged materials from the laptop,” she said.

Asked whether she was “disputing” that it was Biden’s voice on the voicemail, Jean Pierre responded, “I am not going to talk about alleged materials on the laptop, it’s not happening,” referring Doocy to Hunter Biden’s representative.

Once she had dispensed with Doocy, Jean-Pierre was put on the spot by another reporter, Philip Wegmann of Real Clear Politics.

“The president likes to say I will always level with you, he says that again and again,” he said. “Moments ago, though, you seemed to dismiss Peter’s question about his conversation with his son, Hunter Biden, with regards to his business dealings.”

“And I’m wondering how is that silence consistent with the president’s promise to always level with the American public?” He asked in a futile attempt to extract an answer from Jean-Pierre. “Because in public he says he hasn’t discussed these business dealings, and then at least according to the voicemail that’s been obtained by The Daily Mail and The Washington Examiner, it certainly seems like he was seeking to do exactly that, have a conversation about these business dealings. Is he leveling with the American public on this?”

She replied, “Phil, I hear your question, but what I can tell you from here, standing at this podium, is that I cannot comment on any materials from the laptop, and I would refer you to the representatives of Hunter Biden. That’s what I can share with you at this podium at this time.”

Hunter Biden is currently under a federal investigation for possible tax fraud, money lobbying, and foreign lobbying crimes related to his overseas business dealings.
