Pastor Lamor Miller-Whitehead, who is the founder of the Leaders of the Tomorrow International Church and an ex-convict, showed up in a $350,000 Rolls Royce to negotiate the surrender of accused subway shooter Andrew Abdullah.
The ostentatious bishop served five years in Sing Sing for grand larceny and fraud involving identity theft before becoming a man of faith. He got out of prison in 2013 and registered his church as a for-profit business in 2014 according to the Daily Mail. He boasts a self-created youth mentorship program that has been rebuffed by NYPD and the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office as well.
Before finding God, Miller-Whitehead was arrested in 2006. Decked out in a mink jacket, he was busted for a $2 million identity-theft scam that used the names of real people living in Brooklyn and Long Island.
Abdullah is charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for allegedly killing a Goldman Sachs employee named Daniel Enriquez on a Q train at Canal St Station on Sunday. He allegedly shot Enriquez in cold blood in a reportedly unprovoked attack. According to the Daily Mail, Abdullah was out on bail when the shooting occurred.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams held a press conference on Tuesday and revealed that he negotiated with Miller-Whitehead to bring the suspect in following Abdullah showing up at a legal aid office in Tribeca. Officers arrested him at the legal aid office and an hour later, Abdullah showed up at the Chinatown police station in a stained white t-shirt and cargo pants, escorted into the building by two police officers.

“Before Andrew Abdullah could voluntarily surrender himself to the local precinct, he was needlessly ambushed out front of our Manhattan trial office by City Marshals, denied of his opportunity to first consult with counsel,” the legal aid office declared in a statement.
“Since last night we have been actively speaking with the New York Police Department and the New York County District Attorney’s Office to negotiate his surrender, and what transpired today was completely inappropriate and unwarranted given those conversations,” the statement continued.
Miller-Whitehead claims that Abdullah’s family contacted him Tuesday morning, crying over the suspect’s face being plastered all over the news. The pastor asserts that he was supposed to go to the station with Abdullah but that didn’t happen for some reason.
The pastor was incensed that eight officers had their guns drawn as Abdullah was forced onto the ground and taken into custody. The suspect has previously been charged with felony assault, robbery, and attempted murder and still has an open gun charge from two years ago.
NYC shooter who randomly shot and killed a man on a subway for no reason has two open criminal cases and 19 previous arrests.

The family maintains Abdullah is innocent and Miller-Whitehead spoke at length about him being mentally ill.
“This man is innocent,” the pastor proclaimed concerning Abdullah, according to the New York Post. “His family has untold paperwork showing that he has mental health issues. As he states, he doesn’t remember anything. I pray that the courts do the right thing with this young man. But as per him wanting to turn himself in, I don’t believe he’s a villain.”
The pastor is rumored to have close ties to Adams going back to his days as Brooklyn Borough President, involving “charity” work. The mayor has reportedly sought advice from the pastor on social issues numerous times.
A spokesman from Adams’s previous tenure as Borough President of Brooklyn stated, “Borough President Adams has been invited to or served as co-host for several events organized by Bishop Whitehead that target at-risk youth.”
The pastor’s charity activities are suspect. The bishop claimed that he promoted a collaborative justice initiative with the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office in 2014. In November of 2014, Miller-Whitehead received a cease-and-decease letter from the DA’s office over the claim.
“There was never any partnership or initiative together with him and this office,” DA spokesman Oren Yaniv told the New York Post in an interview.
The ex-convict has also been refuted by the NYPD and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce over claims by the pastor that he was working hand-in-hand with them on the initiative.

There is also the matter of a 2009 outstanding lawsuit where the pastor reportedly owes $261,000 to Monterey Symphony conductor Maximo Bragado-Darman. The bishop was a mortgage broker for the conductor.
The pastor has also been seen driving a Bentley and a Maserati around Brooklyn.
Miller-Whitehead was ordained as a bishop in January 2016. He became a pastor two years prior to that.
Since that time, Adams has publicly backed the pastor. Miller-Whitehead has previously referred to the mayor as his “good friend and good brother.”
In 2015, the pastor was accused of physically abusing his then seven-year-old son, according to a report in connection to a parole violation.
Those claims were dropped after no evidence of assault was found by authorities, according to the State Department of Corrections and Community Service.
The bishop was arrested later that year in Uniondale, Long Island, for violating an order of protection, according to Nassau County Police. He has repeatedly denied beating his son. All charges related to the domestic incident were eventually dismissed.
