Carville: GOP ‘justified’ in believing Dems will ‘sit around’ and yack about ‘veganism and pronouns’ if Roe’s nixed

Democratic strategist James Carville appeared on CNN’s “OutFront” Thursday and told host Erin Burnett that Republicans don’t fear any political ramifications for overturning the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade because of the obvious dysfunctionality of the Democrats.

Carville’s blunt statement follows the leak of a draft opinion to Politico that was authored by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito indicating that SCOTUS is on the brink of overturning the case.

“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division,” Alito wrote.

Justices Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, and Neil Gorsuch all concurred with the opinion. However, it is not finalized and could change. The final decision is expected to be handed down in June but Democrats are already beginning to protest and riot over the possibility Roe v. Wade could be scuttled.

Burnett pointed out that Democrats were discussing using the leak to help gin up support before the upcoming midterm elections.

Carville did not seem to think that strategy would work. He apparently doesn’t have much faith in Democrats being able to convince voters to move to the left by November.

Like many other die-hard Democrats, the strategist claims to be emotionally devastated by the development. Returning the power to legalize abortions or not back to the individual states enrages the left.

Carville stated that the conservative-leaning Supreme Court no longer fears the Democrat Party and is instead doing what they want – which is in fact, following the Constitution.

“Today, they have no fear of Democrats, that’s why they do this. Democrats, you got to understand just what a huge event this is in American politics. The Democrats have won the popular vote in seven out of the last eight presidential elections. Roe is over two to one in approval, and Alito and them said we don’t care, we’re not fair, and we don’t care and all the Democrats are going to do is sit around and talk about veganism and pronouns. And to some extent, that is a justified opinion that they have,” Carville remarked.

He went on to elaborate on how he feared that abortion would be prosecuted as murder in some states and how it would somehow harm women and girls. He reiterated that progressives are totally out-of-touch with voters.

“If this doesn’t motivate people, if this doesn’t get you going, then I can’t do anything to help you. And I’ll tell you who’s not helping is these progressive advocacy groups. No one cares what they say, no one fears them and they need to start dispatching people to Georgia and North Carolina and Wisconsin and Pennsylvania and Michigan and Nevada and Arizona and places like that, and get out of Washington, and get out of talking points and get out there in the field and start registering people and motivating people, that’s what I think,” Carville advised.

  1. Ok, just to make sure I understand ole’ Jimmy correctly here…. “ the Democrats have won the popular vote in seven out of the last eight presidential elections. Roe is over two to one in approval, and Alito and them said we don’t care”

So by that logic, the Supreme Court should rule based on the recent vote counts, and polling data?

    Just asking.

    1. I’m tempted to tell him the Constitution was written precisely to ensure there were places in government where public opinion doesn’t matter. We can all say “mob rule”, right? The thing the Founding Fathers wanted to keep everyone safe from, the thing that lies underneath current riots: the principle where the mob is what makes the rules, without any due concern for anything greater than itself.
