Censorship is rampant on Twitter, Facebook, and Google with liberals claiming that it hits both sides of the political spectrum, prompting Fox News contributor and The Federalist editor-in-chief Mollie Hemingway to call it “gaslighting in the extreme.”

The Babylon Bee is a recent glaring example of censorship on the right. The satirical conservative website had its Twitter account locked because the platform claimed the Bee had violated its rules against “hateful content” for a piece about transgender Dr. Rachel Levine, bestowing on her the 2022 “Man of the Year” award.

The Bee was told it would be reinstated if the tweet was deleted and they apologized. CEO Seth Dillon refused to do so.

Just a day later, New York Times “Sway” podcast host Kara Swisher ridiculously claimed that there was “no evidence” of political bias against conservatives on social media, according to Fox News. She’s not alone. Many Democrats and the media have made similar assertions.

District Media Group president Beverly Hallberg lauded The Babylon Bee for standing its ground in the face of leftist censorship.

“They’re targeting specific issues … They’re going to be censoring opinions based on what Twitter deems appropriate,” she said in an interview with Fox News Digital.

“You can not possibly have been alive in the last five years and think that social media companies do anything other than amplify left-wing insanity and crush anything from the right that hurts the left,” Hemingway noted.

The debate has now been raging for years with Big Tech claiming they are trying to curb “misinformation” by enforcing politically biased moderation policies and proclaiming that a company has a right to operate its business how it sees fit even if it has a monopoly on a given market. And in the process, conservative voices are being silenced one by one.

Rep. Vicky Hartzler, who is a Republican Senate candidate from Missouri, is another example of censorship on social media platforms. She was suspended from Twitter in February for tweeting about transgender women in sports.

“Women’s sports are for women, not men pretending to be women,” she tweeted via her campaign account. Again, Martzler was told she would be reinstated if she deleted the tweet which was deemed as “hateful content.” Her account seems to have been reinstated.

“Now we hope that governors will likewise be emboldened to continue the fight against the evil gender ideology being forced on America’s children by joining Arkansas and Tennessee in banning the chemical castration and surgical mutilation of minors suffering from gender dysphoria,” Jon Schweppe, who is a policy director at the think tank American Principles Project (APP), tweeted in December.

That got him suspended over “hateful content” as well. He appealed and was rejected. However, his account is now back up as well.

Discussing Critical Race Theory could also get you suspended or banned. The Chalkboard Review, an education group that opposes Critical Race Theory, was suspended by Twitter but was reinstated in February. They had originally been notified they were suspended permanently after being reported by National Education Association (NEA) official Emilie McKiernan, according to Fox News. That followed the teachers’ union sending a letter to social media platforms, urging them to “help put an end” to “propaganda fueling violence” against educators.

Dr. Robert Malone, who was one of the original researchers for the mRNA vaccine used against COVID-19, was permanently banned by Twitter in December for violating its COVID-19 misinformation policy. A video with podcast host Joe Rogan concerning “mass formation psychosis” was removed by YouTube as well and Malone believes that Google is censoring search engine results connected to that interview.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was also banned by Twitter for violating its “COVID-19 misinformation policy.”

Media company Grabien was suspended for the same thing after quoting Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) when he spoke out on COVID treatments.

“Rep. Biggs: Big Pharma Won’t Consider Therapeutics like HCQ or Ivermectin Because of Economic Interests,” the tweet by Grabien founder Tom Elliott stated.

Project Veritas was permanently suspended on Twitter in February 2021 for “repeated violations” of the company’s “private information policy.” The suspension occurred after the news outlet shared a video showing journalist Christian Hartsock questioning Facebook executive Guy Rosen concerning censorship.

Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe was permanently banned months later from his personal account after Twitter alleged he had operated “fake accounts.”

Then, of course, there was the historic banning of then-President Donald Trump from Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and YouTube as well as the suppression of the New York Post story on Hunter Biden’s laptop.

The list is neverending on much smaller accounts that have found themselves banned over the exercising of free speech.

Both Republicans and Democrats have pressed for Big Tech to be regulated because they hold such enormous power over communications and who gets to say what. Censorship which has always been viewed as evil in the United States has now seemingly become mainstream.

Differing approaches are being heatedly debated such as repealing Section 230, breaking up the Big Tech monopolies, or somehow policing their actions via the creation of a government advisory board. But many feel that government intervention could easily lead to even more censorship against political opponents and the further suppression of constitutional rights.

“If we do have competition … why would we want government to step in?” Hallberg asked. “I would argue we want less government within Big Tech, not more … I’m always in favor of consumer choice. I think customers know better than government as to what they’re actually looking for.”

“It has to be a monumentally bad idea that both Democrats and Republicans can agree on when trying to control U.S. citizens’ speech. It’s not a good sign any time politicians are leaping towards censorship,” claimed Digital strategist Bret Jacobson in an interview with Fox News Digital.

A new study conducted by Daryl Davis, who is a race relations expert, and Bill Ottman, a free speech activist and CEO of crypto social network Minds, reports that tech giants such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google are facing all-time highs in hate speech and misinformation. That type of content increased twentyfold between 2017 and 2021 on Facebook, according to the Washington Examiner.

“When you deny people the ability to express opinions and engage in cancel culture, the data shows you send them to nefarious platforms where much worse behavior occurs,” Ottman stated. “People who get canceled or deplatformed just move to somewhere with an echo chamber that reinforces their beliefs, and [that] leads to shootings at synagogues and mosques and what happened in Charlottesville.”

  1. Eric Schmidt oversees several members of White House staff who were, or currently are, Google employees. Of course there is censorship!

  2. News flash: It’s not just those three. Russia on line (AOL) and yahoo have been “selective” in what they allow to be posted for a for a few years now. They’ve gotten so bad I posted a RIP when one of our generals died, and my post was denied as “in violation of our rules.”
There’s no one person to talk to over these banning and refusals to post.
They don’t want to answer questions, they don’t want to explain, they don’t want debate. They want to CONTROL thinking.

  3. Censorship by liberal outlets is getting worse. Liberals think anything they disagree with should be deleted and their narrowmindedness leaves few topics!!
