By now it has been well established that there is no subject or event that “woke” leftists in the media can’t spin in a manner so as to come up with a racial angle and that is also the case when it comes to the hostilities between Ukraine and Russia.

Never mind that President Vladimir Putin’s brutal invasion of his overmatched neighbor has already become a major humanitarian crisis as Ukrainians flee their home country out of fear for their lives, CBS host Gayle King exploited their suffering to insert her opinion that the refugees from Eastern Europe who are largely white are treated far better than illegal immigrants seeking a home in the U.S.

During Tuesday’s edition of “CBS Mornings” when a serious discussion of the unfolding tragedy was taking place with guest Dave Miliband who is the president of the International Rescue Committee, King put on her Joy Reid hat to poison the well by introducing some of the left’s cherished racial toxicity.

“David, how does this treatment compare to refugees from Syria and Afghanistan?” Co-host Nate Burleson asked.

Miliband replied, “In the case of the European Union, we’ve got unity now where there was disunity before. We’ve got welcome now where there was a very divided response before. In the case of the Syrian crisis, it took three months for a million people to flee Syria. In the case of Ukraine, it’s taken a week, and we’re now up to 1.5 million.”

Then King jumped in, asking, “And why do you think that is? A lot of people are starting to say, listen, when people were coming here from El Salvador, Honduras, they were not welcome, they were not really — well — they were not received very well.”

She asked then asked, “When you talk about Syria and Afghanistan, too, what do you think is the difference here?”

“Well, it’s simple,” Miliband responded.

“There’s more fear of incorporating and integrating people from different races and different religions into national life,” he said. “Let’s be honest about it. Now, what we know from the history of this country, the International Rescue Committee was founded by Albert Einstein, we’ve worked here for 80 years and around the world for 80 years as well. What we know is that, in the end, people fleeing for their freedom and for their lives, they’re desperate to have a second chance, and the countries that they adopt as their new homes, they become patriotic and productive citizens because of the chance that’s given them.”

King again brought up the illegal aliens.

“Yeah, I think people need to be reminded of that. You know, we had, time and time — you look at people coming from Haiti, people coming, as I said, El Salvador, Honduras. They were not treated this well. And I think we all want the Ukrainian people to be helped. Everybody agrees with that, but there’s enough pain to go around here,” she said.

Twitter users lit King up for her silly and insensitive remarks.

Leave it to a leftist media millionaire to see phantom “white privilege” in even such a tragic and grave situation like the one faced by Ukrainians who have been forced to leave their homes because of a war that has been brought to them courtesy of a power-crazed maniac with aspirations of global domination.
