Leftists reacted to the stunning news that two top prosecutors in the criminal investigation into former President Donald J. Trump resigned without warning, a major blow to the hopes of those who, once again, believed that the walls were closing in on a man whom they despise to the very depths of their souls.

On Wednesday afternoon, Carey Dunne and Mark Pomerantz abruptly resigned from the Manhattan district attorney’s office, a major development that was reported by The New York Times writing that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg “was said to have expressed doubts about the case” in a probe involving the former president’s company the Trump Organization.

Leftists were blindsided by resignations and a shaken Ari Melber broke the news to his MSNBC viewers that yet another effort to take out Trump would likely end in the same futility that all of the others had.

On Wednesday’s edition of “The Beat,” the downtrodden host was forced to acknowledge that the case is in big-time trouble, “the news tonight is the largest setback this case has ever seen for prosecuting Trump himself.”

“The two lead prosecutors are now OUT, abruptly resigning in a legal move that suggests this long-running case may end with a whimper, not a bang,” he said.

Melber continued, saying that “details are still emerging but all of the new signs we are seeing tonight suggest bad news for legal experts who saw this as the case for indicting Trump, and good news, for the former president.”

“The New York Times wrote the story late today, two of the acclaimed prosecutors that were tapped to build a case resigning after the new Manhattan DA pushed back on them with, quote, doubts about the case, meaning indicting Mr. Trump himself,” he said.

“That new DA. is Alvin Bragg, he took over from the long time DA overseeing the case Cy Vance,” he explained, referring to the vehemently partisan Democrat who used his position to engage in the witch hunt against Trump and his associates.

“Bragg is a rookie facing a high pressure and unprecedented call over whether to indict a former president,” he added. “Tonight’s news suggests on that question he has folded and the prosecutors may be leaving over it,” he said of the first black person to be elected to the powerful office.

Many took to Twitter to express their dismay.

Others reacted to the news that the left’s latest silver bullet that would take out Trump was a dud.

There will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth from those who got their hopes up that the New York-based investigation would derail an increasingly likely 2024 presidential run by Trump, but they still have Nancy Pelosi’s sham “insurrection” committee to put their faith in.
