Comedian Adam Carolla offered up a unique take on what may be driving the popularity of Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez whose opinions are highly sought by media and who has become the ideological driving force behind the Democratic Party despite her young age and inexperience.

During an appearance on Thursday night’s edition of “Hannity” where he and Sean Hannity discussed the two-week suspension of Whoopi Goldberg after she ignited a firestorm for remarks that trivialized the Holocaust on “The View” when the race-obsessed co-host opined that the roundup and murder of six million Jews was “not about race,” resulting in a ferocious blowback.

In weighing in on AOC’s declaration that Goldberg’s suspension was not necessary since she had already apologized, comments were given to celebrity gossip website TMZ which tracked down the New York City congresswoman in Washington D.C. this week.

“So the last I read, Jonathan Greenblatt who’s the head of the Anti Defamation League which you know, is a champion for, in the fight against anti-Semitism across the country, he accepted her apology and I think we really kind of take the Jewish community’s lead on this and they seem to see that her apology was authentic and want to move on,” AOC said.

Carolla, who like his fellow comic Goldberg has faced calls for his cancellation over his own remarks, defended her, saying “she’s allowed to speak her mind into a microphone because that’s the job we gave her.”

“Keep in mind, all these people have a job, their job is to give their opinions every single day, all day, you have that job, I have that job, there’s no way you’re going to be able to talk as much as we talk and she talks and not screw up on occasion,” he added.

After the conversation turned to the socialist firebrand and her call to forgive and forget, Carolla noted, “Obviously, it is hypocritical with AOC, because she didn’t care about Roseanne getting canceled, or Sharon Osbourne, or Chris Harrison from ‘The Bachelor’ or any of that,” he said. “It’s just when somebody from her side of the aisle gets slapped on the hand, then she wants to show some grace.”

He later delivered his observation with the zinger: “Here’s a quick thought experiment if AOC was fat and in her sixties, would anyone listen to another thing she ever said?”

Hannity replied, “Oh boy, you’re gonna step in that one. What exactly do you mean by that? Do you mean is it because she’s young and what?”

“Yes,” responded Carolla. “She’s young, she’s vibrant, she’s beautiful, and everybody’s always putting a camera and a mic in her face, but her opinions are idiotic 95% of the time, and I don’t think if she was a middle-aged, heavyset woman anyone would care what she had to say.”

Hannity begged to differ.

“She’s got the whole Democratic Party following her. In my opinion, she’s way more powerful than Speaker Pelosi and if she and The Squad decided that she’s out, I think she could probably be speaker,” he said. “If she challenges Chuck Schumer in New York, I think she has a good shot at beating him. Maybe I’m wrong.”

Carolla replied, “I agree with you. I’m just saying if she was fat and old, I don’t think TMZ would be chasing her around with a camera.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s avid fans swarmed to defend her honor and swarmed Twitter to savage Carolla.

Whatever it may be, there must be a reason why a woman with zero political experience and even less ideological prowess could go from slinging drinks at a New York City taco and tequila bar to become a media rock star as well as arguably the most prominent voice in the Democratic Party. And while his detractors will never admit it, Carolla just might be onto something.
