Former President Theodore Roosevelt’s statue that has majestically stood in front of the American Museum of Natural History for more than 80 years in Manhattan was removed by a crane in the middle of the night Wednesday after leftists protested, claiming it glorified colonialism and racism.
The bronze statue depicts the Rough Rider atop his mount, flanked by an American Indian on one side and a black man on the other. The “Equestrian Statue of Theodore Roosevelt” was commissioned in 1925 and unveiled to the public in 1940.
Only the concrete pedestal is left now and the iconic statue honoring the 26th President of the United States will now be shipped to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota. Many feel it is yet one more instance proving that America is unraveling and is now only a shadow of the great nation it once was.
It cost New York City and the museum $2 million to remove the effigy of Roosevelt. The New York City Public Design Commission voted in June to relocate the monument.
NYC just removed a statue of one of America’s greatest historical men. If Teddy Roosevelt doesn’t represent the American spirit, nobody does. And New York City took him down because it’s not an American city anymore.

In December, the museum cloaked the 10-foot-tall statue with a tarp in preparation for its removal and shipment.

In a sad testament to American history and a win for politically correct cancel culture, one of Roosevelt’s descendants, Theodore Roosevelt V, applauded the removal plan last year. He remarked in a statement that it is “fitting that the statue is being relocated to a place where its composition can be re-contextualized to facilitate difficult, complex and inclusive discussions.”
The artwork was originally commissioned a year after Roosevelt passed away as part of a larger state memorial to honor the ex-New York governor and one of the most popular presidents in American history. It was also intended to celebrate his work in conservation and as a naturalist. Roosevelt’s father was one of the museum’s original founders and the former president donated specimens from his hunts to various exhibits.
Those decrying “white supremacy” did not take into account that the sculptor who created the artwork said it was meant to emphasize Roosevelt’s “friendliness to all races,” according to the New York Post. The former president, for instance, hosted Booker T. Washington at the White House, taking a stance against segregationists.
“The process, conducted with historic preservation specialists and approved by multiple New York City agencies, will include restoration of the plaza in front of the Museum, which will continue through the spring,” a museum spokesperson said in a released statement. “The Museum is proud to continue as the site of New York State’s official memorial to Theodore Roosevelt.”
The museum asserted its decision was prompted by the killing of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter demonstrations protesting racism that followed.
Many are outraged and appalled at the removal of the statue:
It’s like the French Revolution and the Russian Revolution when statues of the monarchs were torn down. It’s Year Zero in New York City.https://t.co/gmIzxSJ7Yf pic.twitter.com/pzXH5xbS3V

The cultural destruction going on today in America eerily reminds me of my childhood in Castro’s Cuba, when “progressives” were happily destroying Cuban society in order to create their utopia. We know how that movie ended.

The objective of the left, that is what the dictatorship did in Venezuela. They even changed our flag.
Don’t let them destroy the United States. Re learn to love your country, its history and its protagonists.
