Progressives have lost all faith in President Biden to carry out their far-left agenda and a number of Democratic strategists now believe he will face a primary challenger in 2024, especially if the 2022 midterm elections are a bloodbath.
Politico is reporting that Jeff Weaver, who is a former presidential campaign manager for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), broached the subject when questioned.
“Will there be a progressive challenger? Yes,” Weaver, adamantly stated.
Former 2020 presidential candidate Marianne Williamson or former Ohio State Senator Nina Turner top the possible list to run against Biden. Both are socialists and extremely radical.
“He’s deeply unpopular. He’s old as sh*t. He’s largely been ineffective unless we’re counting judges or whatever the hell inside-baseball scorecard we’re using. And I think he’ll probably get demolished in the midterms,” Corbin Trent, who is a former communications director for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and co-founder of the No Excuses PAC commented. “People will smell opportunity, and D.C. is filled with people who want to be president.”

The far-left is ticked because Biden hasn’t adequately pushed climate change and the Green New Deal they are so hot for. They are also furious that the Build Back Better agenda is stalled.
“Left-wing operatives and activists agree that if Biden declines to run for reelection, a more fulsome list of progressive candidates will consider a campaign, possibly including ‘Squad’ members Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.). California Reps. Khanna and Katie Porter, Warren, former presidential candidate Julián Castro and Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) also draw mention. If liberals fare well in next year’s midterms, that could also have an impact in shaping the 2024 field, particularly if the election goes as badly as expected for the party as a whole,” Politico reported.
The “Occupy Biden” movement has been camping out near President Biden’s residence in Delaware. That started on Dec. 25 and went through Jan. 1. They are demanding that he declare a “climate emergency.” A spokesperson for the group tore into Biden for not doing enough when it comes to climate change.
“We do understand that an administration that at least believes and asserts that climate crisis is real is an asset. But in a time of emergency, we must act to do everything possible to avert catastrophe,” Karen Igou, who is a spokesperson for Occupy Biden told Fox News Saturday.

Many have real doubts that any primary challenger would be successful against Biden given those to choose from in the Democratic Party.
“I think when you look at the AOC and the Bernies, they’re really disappointed that the deal was struck by the end of this year. I think they feel like he’s sold out. I think that they were really disappointed with any compromise that he made,” Lee Carter, who is a Republican Pollster asserted according to Fox News. “They’re ready to pounce on him.”
Carter, however, is not convinced that progressives are set on challenging Biden in 2024. Instead, he believes they will push him to the left as far as they can.
“I think that President Biden is in a very difficult position because he’s got to make concessions to the far-left,” Carter added. “But then he’s also got people like Joe Manchin that he’s got to make sure he doesn’t lose.”
Biden’s approval ratings continue to plummet nationwide. He has a 43 percent approval rating in the latest Real Clear Politics polling average.
“The economy has some problems, but you know those areas where it’s very strong. But people have doubts and are uncertain because they’re not focusing on that part of it. So we’re hearing about inflation, but not unemployment, and not the GDP. And there are things that he could point to. He hasn’t been very effective at doing,” Lee Miringoff, who is the director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, pointed out.
“If a Democrat runs, it would be viewed as divisive within the party and is likely not to attract a marquee candidate. I think it might be someone who is still looking to raise some issues and create some attention,” Miringoff contended.
Kevin Walling, who is a Democratic strategist and former Biden campaign surrogate, dismissed the idea that progressives would challenge Biden in 2024.
“With all due respect to Nina Turner, there is a reason that she was unsuccessful in her Democratic primary for Congress. Turns out that running against a popular Democratic President and a member of her own party is not a winning strategy. I think any talk of a potential primary challenge is not just premature, but also misguided and just noise to put pressure on the President from his left flank,” he claimed.
Walling thinks that President Biden is in an “excellent spot with an eye to re-election.”
“He has delivered on some major progressive goals including on education, combating climate change, and social program investments as well as passing the largest bipartisan infrastructure investment in decades – a huge priority for more centrist members of our party,” Walling argued.
