Sean Charles Greer, 27, who was released on bail previously, has been arrested by Florida police after he allegedly passed a bus, careened up onto a sidewalk, and plowed through a group of children all under the age of 10, killing two and injuring four before accelerating and fleeing the scene of the crime.

Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Miranda Grossman stated that “Greer is also currently on probation for burglary of a dwelling in Broward County.”

“He faces two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving death, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries, tampering with evidence, four counts of driving without a license causing death and/or serious bodily injuries and driving with a suspended license,” she reported in a statement.

Greer was booked Tuesday evening into the Broward County Jail according to the sheriff’s office. His address was reportedly less than a third of a mile from where he ran over the children who were walking with an adult family member, according to WSVN.

Fox News is reporting that the tragedy occurred just before 3 p.m. on Monday at 2417 NW Ninth Avenue in Wilton Manors at a bus stop. Greer has reportedly confessed to the crime according to Grossman. His vehicle was located earlier in the day.

Several of the victims were related. Five-year-old Kylie Jones and her cousin six-year-old Andrea Fleming were the two children killed in the carnage. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other children were taken to a hospital, including Draya Fleming, 9, Laziyah Stokes, 9, Jonathan Carter, 10, and Audre Fleming, 2. Two of the children are in critical condition. The other two are in serious condition, according to WSVN.

Authorities assert that Greer was speeding south down Powerline Road when the bus driver attempted to merge into the right lane after dropping off a passenger near the 2500 block. He reportedly sped up, passing the bus on the left “almost striking the front driver’s side” before veering hard to the right in front of the bus, losing control and careening off the road onto the sidewalk, then hitting the children before driving off.

“As soon as he gets in front of me, he just went straight for the kids,” the bus driver, Selvin Arjun, told 7News. “I don’t know if he couldn’t control the car because he was going fast, but he drove straight into those kids.”

Area resident Harriet Lewis commented that a little girl was pinned underneath a parked car when she found her.

“I said, ‘Oh, my God, she’s alive. She’s got to have a pulse,’” she recounted to 7News. “I was holding her hand and letting her know, ‘Just hear my voice. Don’t go. Don’t sleep, just hear my voice.’”

Many of the witnesses could not fathom how someone could hit six children and just take off the way the suspect did.

The Fleming siblings were visiting their father. They were standing in a driveway in front of a residential building that was several blocks away from roughly a half-dozen schools when they were struck.

Many hope Greer will have to pay the ultimate price for hitting six children, killing two of them:
