Fox News host Jesse Watters bluntly called Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) a “dangerous idiot” concerning her recent Axios interview where she was asked about abolishing prisons in the name of social justice.

“The Five” opened the show with a discussion of the Wisconsin Christmas parade massacre where Darrell Brooks allegedly drove a red SUV at high speed into the marchers and bystanders, mowing them down. Six are dead including an eight-year-old boy who succumbed to his wounds in the hospital on Tuesday. Sixty-two were injured in the attack that police are calling first-degree intentional homicide.

Co-host Dana Perino shifted from that horrific tragedy to the response by ‘the Squad’ on justice reform.

“While many are furious and wondering how this could happen, members of the Squad, well, they are doubling down on criminal justice reforms. AOC criticizing excessive bail in New York City, and Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib being confronted over a plan to release everyone from federal prison,” she said.

She incredulously stated, “On the very same day that this is happening, the Squad is advocating for even more reforms of this sort.”

“The congresswoman’s an idiot,” Watters bluntly said concerning Tlaib and her illogical progressive stance on the issue. “And she has power, so that makes her a very dangerous idiot,” he concluded turning back to the Waukesha tragedy.

When discussing Brooks’ appearance in court for the massacre, Watters noted that he pushed “a lot of anti-Trump, anti-capitalism content” online, as well as “wacky conspiracy theories about Jews and Hitler” on his now-deleted Facebook page.

Tlaib sat down for an interview with Axios journalist Jonathan Swan to talk about her endorsement of the BREATHE Act and the goal of “emptying federal detention facilities within 10 years.”

“In 2020, you endorsed the BREATHE Act, which is a series of proposals to transform America’s criminal justice system and create, quote, ‘a roadmap for prison abolition.’ The BREATHE Act proposes emptying federal detention facilities within 10 years. To what extent have you wrestled with any potential downsides of releasing into society every single person who’s currently in a federal prison?” he asked her.

“I think everyone’s like, oh my God, we’re going to just release everybody,” Tlaib flippantly remarked.

“That’s what the act says,” Swan pointed out as he continued questioning her.

“Yeah, but did you see how many people are mentally ill that are in prison right now?” Tlaib, smiling, snipped back, attempting to explain her flawed rationale for supporting the bill.

“No, I know,” Swan said. “But the act you endorsed actually says release everyone in 10 years. … There are like, human traffickers, child sex [predators].

Tlaib responded, “But in 10 years.”

“Do you mean that you don’t actually support that? Cause you used to endorse the bill,” Swan shot back.

“No, I endorsed the BREATHE Act and looking at federal — the policies and how we incarcerate,” Tlaib asserted. “Absolutely.” In the end she admitted that she does not believe “all people can be rehabilitated.”

Her reasoning was not clear and she gave no concrete reasons or explanation for setting dangerous felons free.
