‘The real heroes are the vaccinated’ defacement of war memorial a sick sign of the times

In a disturbing sign of disrespect to those who gave their lives for a freedom that no longer exists north of the border, a veteran’s war memorial was defaced with a pro-vaccine message prior to a ceremony honoring Canadians who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The malicious criminal act took place in the British Columbia city of Cranbrook, a picturesque locale in the province’s East Kootenay region on Remembrance Day, the Canadian version of Veterans Day in the U.S. and was discovered mere hours before citizens would turn out to pay their respects in an annual tradition.

Shortly after the first light of day, a Cranbrook resident who was out walking noticed something very peculiar about the cenotaph upon which the names of the war dead were inscribed and notified authorities.

When members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrived at the crime scene, they discovered that the words “THE REAL HEROES ARE THE VACCINATED!” in large green letters had been spray-painted across the face of the memorial.

After the dishonorable graffiti was discovered, a frantic cleanup effort was undertaken by city workers along with police and first responders who were “able to get the message removed before the city’s Remembrance Day parade and ceremony took place at 10:15 a.m.,” according to a report by Canada’s Global News.

“Thankfully, the Cranbrook RCMP, Cranbrook Fire Services and City of Cranbrook staff worked together and were able to quickly remove the writings before any of our war heroes and veterans were able to see what had been written”, said Constable Katie Forgeron, according to the Cranbrook Daily Townsman. “We are continuing to investigate and are looking for any information leading to the person(s) responsible”.

The city of Cranbrook issued the following statement on its website: “As a community, we are beyond disappointed by the disrespectful actions of those responsible for defacing such an important monument on such an important day for all Canadians.”

“This act does not speak to the character and values of our citizens and our community,” the statement adds. “We are grateful to the member of the community that alerted us of the vandalism early this morning. We are extremely proud of our staff, RCMP and Fire Services members who were able to quickly remove the graffiti and allow for the Remembrance Day ceremonies to go on, and remain focused on honouring all our veterans, past and present for their selfless sacrifice.”

Police are conducting an investigation and “will be collecting security video from nearby buildings in the hopes they recorded the vandal,” according to Global News.

The vandalism is yet another sickening sign of the troubling times with traditional western values under assault as never before by the government of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Other than Australia, no so-called “western democracy” has morphed into an authoritarian dystopia more quickly than American’s northern neighbor since the outbreak of the COVID pandemic, with the persecution of the unvaccinated, the suspension of longstanding freedoms and, in some terrifying cases, overt displays of Gestapo-style tactics such as those brought to bear against Pastor Artur Pawlowski.

The Polish immigrant who fled communism in his native country’s only “crime” was to hold worship services in defiance of draconian COVID restrictions and has been the target of a vicious campaign of repression ever since.

Pawlowski has been an outspoken critic of Canada’s COVID tyranny and, in a chilling warning, he ominously predicted that the United States will be next.

It is currently unknown whether the person (s) who defaced the Cranbrook veterans’ memorial will be apprehended or if they will be harshly punished for their crimes but the contempt for their sacrifice bodes ill for the future of the freedom they died to protect.
