Steve Scalise SHREDS Stephanie Grisham over Melania claim in new book, demands dates and brings receipts

If there is anyone in Congress who knows a thing about fighting, it may be House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., something Trump turncoat Stephanie Grisham would learn the hard way Monday while peddling her tawdry new book.

The former spokeswoman and confidante of former first lady Melania Trump alleged in the book that Mrs. Trump refused to meet Scalise at the White House after he was shot at a congressional baseball practice by a Bernie Sanders supporter because she “already said hello” at the hospital.

But Scalise quickly fired back in response to a tweet from Political Insider to say the alleged snub never took place, calling it “another pathetic attempt by a disgraced former staffer to tell lies in order to sell books.”

“This is how the fake news media machine against President Trump and [Melania Trump] works,” Scalise tweeted. “This never happened. My family went to visit the White House while I was still in the hospital and were graciously given a tour by President and Mrs. Trump.”

He also produced the receipts, sharing several photos of his family poising with the then-president and first lady at the White House.

Not satisfied with taking a shot at the media, the Republican lawmaker turned his attention to Grisham and her publisher in a pair of follow-up tweets.

“This is another pathetic attempt by a disgraced former staffer to tell lies in order to sell books. If her publisher or a single outlet covering this story had done any fact-checking, they would’ve learned it was fake. But they didn’t because it fits their fake narrative,” he tweeted, adding, “The fact they need to stoop so low to make up verifiably false stories about a shooting victim and his family to paint a false picture of the Trumps tells you everything you need to know about their credibility.”

 

In an attempt to save face, Grisham responded in a tweet of her own to feign support for the tragedy that “befell” Scalise, before insulting him by claiming he’d “defend the Trumps at all costs.”

“Hi sir. All due respect, this isn’t the visit I write about in my book, as you were still in the hospital,” she wrote. “I would never take advantage of the tragedy that befell you, but nevertheless, understand your need to defend the Trumps at all costs.”

Sticking to the facts, the GOP congressman replied to ask: “Really? What’s the date? I never went for an unscheduled visit with my family after I left the hospital.”

As of this writing, nearly four hours after the tweet, Grisham has not responded — perhaps, she’s busy going through all her notes to find the trip to the White House that Scalise is unaware he took.
