Facebook ads launched by Rep. Elise Stefanik, the No. 3 ranking Republican in the House, claim that President Joe Biden and majority Democrats in Congress want to impose a “permanent election insurrection” through the expansion of citizenship pathways and amnesties for millions of illegal aliens.
The ads were launched in advance of a rally scheduled for Saturday in Washington, D.C., to support people still in jail awaiting trial following their arrest for alleged crimes committed during the Jan. 6 Capitol breach.
The provision in question is part of Democrats’ massive $3.5 trillion spending bill that has the support of nearly all party members in the House and Senate, with the exception of — for the time being — Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia. The provision, which will allow millions of migrants to apply for permanent residency inside the U.S., has also been criticized by immigration control groups as problematic and costly.
“Radical Democrats are planning their most aggressive move yet: a PERMANENT ELECTION INSURRECTION,” one version of the ad, which was paid for by the New York Republican’s campaign committee, says.
“Their plan to grant amnesty to 11 MILLION illegal immigrants will overthrow our current electorate and create a permanent liberal majority in Washington,” the ad, which appeared online Wednesday, continued, showing Biden with others who appear to be immigrants showing up as reflections in his sunglasses.
The language in the ads repeats claims made by other conservatives like Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who has discussed a “replacement theory” in which Democrats are working to dilute and overwhelm the voting power of white citizens with non-white immigrants who would more likely support them than the GOP.
A couple of versions of the ad began to show up on Facebook last weekend, some with images of migrants attempting to climb over a border wall. They also target the president by name and call out Vice President Kamala Harris as well as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)
They also warn about an impending “insurrection” by millions of migrants, as the number of illegal crossings continues to skyrocket past historic levels.
Carlson began to warn about Democrats wanting to “replace” white voters in April.
“Now, I know that the left and all the little gatekeepers on Twitter become literally hysterical if you use the term ‘replacement,’ if you suggest that the Democratic Party is trying to replace the current electorate, the voters now casting ballots, with new people, more obedient voters from the Third World,” he said on his prime time show. “But they become hysterical because that’s what’s happening, actually.”
Meanwhile, the numbers speak for themselves: “Border encounters” in August 2021 were 208,887, which is up 106 percent since February and 317 percent compared to one year ago, Fox News correspondent John Roberts posted, citing U.S. Customs and Border Protection stats.

“Major policy changes deserve rigorous debate by our representatives in Congress and the public. Yet an amnesty for an estimated eight million people has been slipped into a reconciliation bill in order to avoid hearings and quickly advance the bill with only a simple majority in the Senate,” says a Tuesday email alert from the Centers for Immigration Studies, an organization that advocates for legal, limited immigration.
“The amnesty for 8 million illegal immigrants contained within the budget reconciliation bill would generate a total cost to Social Security and Medicare Part A of roughly $1 trillion in present value,” the email adds.
